Is this the right TRANE system?

I am having a new house built and they installed the following. Want to see if this makes sense.

2,800 sq ft house. 2 story. In eastern NC.

First Floor - Trane XR15 4TTR502rE1000AB with 4TCXCB025BC3HCAA

Second Floor - Trane 4TWR5030E1000AC With 4TCXB003CC3HCAA

Appears to be a 2 and 2 1/2 ton XR15.

However you have not provided the furnace mdl number. Hope it's the XV80 model.

The XL900 is not what you need, the Vision Pro IAQ bought from Honeywell (who makes the 900) will do you just fine. Just make sure they wire the dehumidify on demand properly to the air handler, then you can have the IAQ slow the blower for more dehumidification. The 803 shouldn't be much more than the 802.

The part should be covered under warranty. It is relatively cheap though. You still would be responsible for the service call and labor unless you have the ext warranty that covers labor. The split question would be on your dime. Pursue it if it's important to you. Were you ever getting a 20 degree split? What is your supply temp? Take an average at several different registers during peak period of day.note factors such as outside temperature, thermostat setting, and temperature at your return. That might give you an indication if you really have an issue. IMO

I just purchased a trane xl 20 I 4 ton heatpump . With the xv 80 furnace with the trane matching coil and a trane 803 thermostat. With out door sensor. It is designed to run as a duel fuel system. I think the company installing this unit did not have enough experiance in a duel fuel system. They have been back several times and still are having a hard time, The heat pump was working fine as the temperature dropped to below 32 the unit was not turning over to the oil heat. Also the outdoor temperature on the thermostat was showing 80 degrees. They just left and they reprogrammed the thermostat and did a few things that have got the themostat to read the correct outdoor temperature. I hope now it will work. What temperature should the trane heat pump cut off and the oil furnace come on?????? How do I know if this system is installed correctly? They have come back 6 to 7 times. For this and that. I have lost some what faith in the company. Should I find a company to come and check there work. This is a dual stage sophisticated system by trane. I did get a great deal but have paid a price in the level of headache. Any suggestions would greatly be suggested. Thanks.

did you get the AhRI matching number? As I recall, the first Trane quote was not an AHRI match, the second was a match. I would not be concerned about the rain. However, if you were working outside in the rain, your inclination would be to get the job over as soon as possible. Considering human nature, this might mean shortcuts. Just saying. Let your installer guide you about the furnace installation. Quiet, level, and sturdy is what you are looking for as well drain protection on overflows from condensate. IMO

What size?
Since the smallest XV95 is a 60 KBTU, clearly you are oversized and probably would have been better off with the XV80. Why do I say you are oversized? Because you will never use the second stg of this nice furnace. Trane makes good HVAC but your situation is simply not a good fit for Trane.

BTW, what thermostat was installed?

The thermostat that was installed upstairs with the duel fule model was Honeywell TH8320U1008.

I had originally asked for a variable speed furnace. They priced it out but then they learned what they priced me didn't have variable speed so they had to upgrade the furnace at no cost to the XV95 furnace.

I've never had a heat pump before so I don't know much about them and why I would want one for the second floor and not the first floor. Someone else told me they wouldn't have put a heat pump in the attic for the second floor because something about the condensation line freezing in the winter.

When you say I would have been better off with the XV80, is that based on cost or performance? Since I din't pay the extra for the XV95, will it still perform?

Well you are way oversized on the furnace.

Plus while you live in an area with a moderate winter climate, you normally do not place a condensing furnace like the XV95 in an attic environment.

Your equipment selection would not have been my choice.

One other thought about the thermostat.

I would have wanted the HW mdl 8321 that has the overcooling feature for better dehumidification in cooling mode considering your location.

Cost difference-inconsequential.
