Often times the dry cough and post nasal drip issues are directly related to the Gerd. I do use a wedge pillow at times however I tend to slide down it during the night and end up flat.

I have been doing a tremendous amount of research on Gerd and the use of proton pump inhibitors and other antacids. I am trying to wean myself off of them and after learning a lot about it, I am having great success.
The most amazing thing is that now at the first sign of reflux I go immediately and take 1 tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar in 8oz of water and it is done! I was amazed but it works every time for me and my husband.

Any chance you are on a blood pressure medication? What you describe sounds like a common side-effect. I'm dealing with this too; my friend swears by keffir so I'm giving it a try.

dh and I have enough pillows to wedge us but still find my head flat by the am....aside from the suggestions above, I'd raise the head of the bed....can't flatten that!

Almost every blood pressure medicine makes me cough so definitely they can cause a dry cough, same for my mom. Even the ones that are not supposed to cause cough make me cough. So do some diabetes message.

I drink kefir too, take probiotic gold, doing the low carb and no sugar, also really helps. We have both had the best blood glucose numbers ever since going low carb real food. Tonight my husband's 2-hour postprandial blood sugar was 99 and mine was 110. Amazing how food affects us.

I have raised the head of my bed the legs have screw out adjustable feet so my husband used it to make the head higher than the feet. You can buy risers that do the same. Since the pillow never worked that's the only way to achieve this.

I have high blood pressure and GERD. I read that to receive the most relief from GERD when using a "wedge pillow," that the wedge should be no more than 5" at the highest. Most are much higher than that. Also, there is a world of difference in comfort depending on the foam that's used to make the wedge. I bought one from Hammacher Schlemmer. It's called The Sleep Improving Pillow Wedge. It's very comfortable and really does help. Not cheap ($79) but worth it in my opinion. (It has a lifetime guarantee, too.)

Sleep on your left side. Studies found sleeping on your stomach or right side can cause additional pressure that increases GERD symptoms. Left-side sleepers report relief.

I have a wedge pillow and I can't sleep with it, its not very comfortable. It's solid foam. Try a cheap one first to see if you like it.
