where do you keep all your cake, muffin, etc. pans?

I'm redesigning my island with more storage and I have tons of equipment. For example, I have four food processors, four different slow cookers, plus many other things and I have cupboard space for them. I'm replacing an old baking cabnet where I store all my baking pans with a desk. So the problem is - what type of space do I build for them - I have 6 or so 9X13 pans, five different types of muffin pans, numerous shapes and sizes of cake pans and much much more.

Do you store them in drawers, on shelves or what? There is no chance of tossing any of them - I use them all.

Thanks for any ideas you can give me.

My Mom is returning these to get a cheaper version from Lee Valley (Ikea has a version as well but they are not very deep):

At the suggestion of one of the KD's we met with and re-affirmed here we are installing them in the cabinet over the fridge (better for cookie sheets, muffin pans, wire racks and long pans than round or deep pans which may be harder to reach up there). I think Buehl recently posted a picture of her set up over her fridge using dividers she picked up from Wal-Mart.

This post made me smile because I have a lot of bakeware too. Cookie sheets and muffin pans go into a 12" wide base cab along with cutting boards:

Most of my bakeware goes into the 36" wide base cab with pullouts at the far left side of this photo:

And my serveware (including square/rectangular baking pans, lasagna pans, etc) goes into the cabinets above and below the MW:

Also FWIW, I put in a baking center at the end of the island closest to the range (it doesn't really show in these pix) -- it's just a base cab lowered 4" to provide a comfortable height for rolling out dough and such. It's wonderful for a hardcore baker!

I am extremely security conscious obviously, I use hard nonsense passwords and rarely ever use the same password for anything , for security sensitive sites I never use the same and always use hardened password. I have one notebook I keep everything written down in, I keep it in a secure locked location, I do NOT put them on my pc and NEVER in my email account if your email is hacked they have access to every single one of your accounts and passwords that is the biggest no no of them all because email accounts are so easily hacked these days. For those doing that I urge you to reconsider!!! If someone manages to break into my house past me and my husband and dogs and our weapons and manage to steal my computers and also find the locked location of my password book and break into that and find that particular notebook then they can have it because I will be cold and dead by then. And I would imagine they will be shedding a little blood too. The only other location is in a lock drawer in a completely separate location, not in my home, in case of a fire or catastrophe here. I never allow the browser to remember passwords and never ever keep any type of password or registration info in my email since email is so insecure.

I've paid everything online since Quicken introduced Bill Pay in the early 90s. However, I am grateful I'm compulsive enough to keep my statements. After 2 pretty serious thefts and a house fire, they made my life a LOT easier. When you have to prove cost to an insurance company, they're invaluable. Online statements are fine, but they usually only make them available for a year to 18 months. Sometimes that's not enough. I have a basket by the door into which I put important mail. It organizes itself as newest to oldest, because I put the newer in front. At tax time I go through and sort them into companies or accounts. Stapled, they go into a credenza that has file drawers in it. I might refer to them once in a couple years, but I have them. Legal papers go into another file in the same place. Junk mail goes into a paper grocery bag, really neatly, which I turn around and usually bury in the garden. Paper recycles well and prevents weeks when the thickness of a section of news paper. Now magazines? If I like an article or ad, I've started tearing off the cover of that mag and putting them into a binder with a pressure clip holding them in. This has come in extremely handy when talking about ideas, and I can throw away the TONS of magazines I seem to accumulate. I'm considering that neat desk scanner thing I see advertized on TV. It has an auto document feed, where my scanner is manual. Last year I scanned statements before and like it. I did them individually and am storing them by account/month on a CD for that year along with a .pdf of last year's tax return, the TurboTax version I've used, and any receipts I might need to reproduce for a deduction. I'm storing that in a binder with 1 printed copy of my tax return. I'm anal enough I am thinking of going thru previous years I'm saving and consolidating like this. Imagine the space I'll free up! But that's after a gudzillion house projects that need finishing. That's a task I'll do when I'm procrastinating about something else.

Drawers here too. All but the largest stock pot fit right under the range and under the work counter next to it. Storing with lids on is nice but takes a lot more space than I have. To keep everything right where I work, I stack them about 2 high, 3 on fry pans, and store their lids standing in a row along the back of the drawer using a divider. Would do just the same again.

One towel (for drying hands) hangs on my sink front. Not visible from our family room, as the island hides it. The hanger is a self stick V-shaped "hook" (no hanging loop necessary). I didn't want to take the risk for the adhesive to mar the high gloss front over time, so I pressed a (non adhesive) removable vinyl piece on the front, and pressed the holder on that. My dish towels live in my Lazy Susan corner cab which is next to my sink cabinet. I chose the Ikea Lazy Susan over the corner pull-out specifically for the 5" of "wasted" space between the rotating shelf and the cab sides. So on the sink side I've installed a telescoping towel bar that holds 4 towels easily. I think the same bars that sjhockeyfan above installed in her dedicated towel cab. I'm really glad that for reaching the towels, we only need to open half of the double-hinged door. As opening and closing both of the hinged doors is a bit more awkward. But 90% of the time the door gets opened for access to the towels. So no problem. No problem with the towels staying wet either. Corner cabs are huge and Ikea cabs are not at airtight. The towels dry quickly. Peeps heere on GW typically don't like Lazy Susan cabs and recommend against them. I love mine. It's perfect for storing small appliances, and what other cab offers two 5"x 30" vertical storage spaces? On the other side of the Susan shelf we keep an oversized tray and a huge over-the-counter/sink cutting board. Plus I keep a foldable stepstool and some other odd stuff underneath the bottom rotating shelf. My Lazy Susan cab should be called "Efficient Susan". She works really hard for us :-)

I have a cabinet above my microwave for just such things.
Also have a lower cabinet for cookie sheets and large trays.

Mine go in a cabinet about the ovens and because it's so deep (30" - as are our counters) I have double deep stash. I keep the stuff I use less frequently - like popover pans and extra cookie sheets in the back. I need a stool to get those out but the stuff in the front is really accessible.

Cake pans and loaf pans and pie dishes etc, are all in a drawer beneath the cook top.

I also have a cabnet above my microwaves with my cutting boards, cookie sheets, cooling racks and trays. And two more narrow ones that I keep more boards and trays in.

BUT what about the bulky ones- bundt pans, anglefood cake pans, loaf pans, star cake pan, oval cake pan, sheet cake pan, half sheet cake pan, springform pans (small, reg. & square) and lots more.

Most of my trays, cookie sheets, cooling racks, cake pans, metal pans, roaster pans, etc are stored above my double ovens. I used 3 Walmart "baking dividers" spread across...they just fit! ($5.99 each).

My glass casserole dishes (round & rectangular) and pie plates/tins are in drawers.

Sorry, no pics of the drawers right now....

Like other posters, I keep cookie sheets, muffin tins, and 9 x 13 pans in the cabinet above my oven using tray dividers. For smaller pans, I use similar--but shorter--tray dividers inside deep drawers in the island across from my oven. The dividers I use are the 4-Sort series from The Container Store.

We put in a wall of double ovens and I had the cabinet company put a 14" deep drawer under the lower oven (using Blum metal drawers to handle the weight of the pans), then a deep storage area above the ovens with double doors. That puts everything in one area around the appliance where they will be used.

I use half of the cabinet above our fridge to store 9x13 type pans I have 3 slots--2 slots have 4 pans (3 9x13 and 1 the next size up 10x14?). The third slot has rarely used smaller pans (8x10?) standing up vertically with 2 in the back of the slot and 2 in front.)

Then I have a lower cabinet in my baking area with slots for all of the baking tins---muffin pans, cookie sheets, pizza pans, etc.
