The surface of a wood stove is around 500 to 600 degrees when in operation. And heat rises! I was told that LCDs don't operate well above 90 degrees. But I don't know. My 10 year old TV still works great and it won't be replaced until it dies.

I used a Harman P68 pellet stove to heat my entire home last year. Its about 2,600 sq ft. It heated the main house and upstairs easily. The family room we added on is 46 feet from the stove and has 11' ceilings. When its cold we use the oil to warm it up at night then turn it off when we go to bed. I used very little oil. I still heat hot water with the boiler. We run are stove 24/7 with no problems. Its designed for that. The harman has a large ash pan and you can burn about a ton before you have to empty it. I would think you could heat your whole house with the stove depending on the layout. I used about 4.5 tons last year. I bought 5 tons this year at $219.00 a ton. I have to pay a delivery charge but don't have the bill yet. Probably end up being around $235 with delivery. My oil dealer said I use about 1,100 gallons a year. some is used for the hot water but not much i have found. I figure it costs me about $1,200 less a year to heat with the pellets pepending on the price of oil. I figure the stove will pay for its self in 2-3 years. There are other benefits. Not using foreign oil, non polluting, burns a waste product etc that I like. the heat is very comfortable and does not seem to dry out the house like a wood stove. I wish the pellets were around 200 a ton but demand has increased them. Hopefully they won't go higher.

There are a few things you are not considering here I think. Even though it is called a furnace it is in fact a hydronic heating appliance which means you must be installing baseboard. That also means you will be needing a circulator as well as a control system unless you plan on letting this thing run wild. Either way you will need a circulator and they draw electric. And it appears electricity will be in tight supply. If you are in a cold climate more then likely you will need glycol in this system to prevent freeze up. Only a fool would omit that all important step. Just glancing over the web site real quick they say the normal installation is 50 to 100 feet from the house. Again, if you live where I do or some other lovely winter wonderland that 100 foot trip in the middle of February when the snow is flying could seem more like a 5 mile trek. Speaking of distance from the house, if that Wood Doctor is anything like a Water Furnace, which is another brand, they require a special type of insulated pipe that can only be bought from them and that stuff has to be buried a little deeper then a foot in the ground or thereabouts. You may want to check that out as well as the price per foot as well as how much $$$ to run it in a below the frost line trench. How well have you researched this wood burner? Personally, I've been burning wood for well over 30 years now in all kinds of stoves. I can't seem to recall ever having a problem like you're concerned with by using a conventional stove. This is just my opinion. Actually I am debating getting a Water Furnace for my own house. But then I don't have to conserve precious watts like you do.

"The problem is, it fits very close to my appliances. it makes for a nice look but I am concerned about the heat and the close proximity of the cabinet. there is no other way to configure these items and I was wondering if there is a way to "protect" the cabinet from heat damage that may occur over time." What exactly didn't I understand when my comments were directly related to the initial post of protecting cabinets from heat????? What didn't I understand based on someone asking how to protect cabinets from heat? And you are correct placing sheetmetal directly on the cabinet surface would transfer heat just as the side of the oven, to properly protect you NEED an air space between the sheetmetal and the cabinet as air is a great insulator and without it the sheetmetal is something else that just gets hot and transfers heat.
