Sorry I'm late too - too much work of late, but I've welcomed that. Hope you had a great day - how far from your birthday is your anniversary? My birthday is the same day as my parents' anniversary, and my mother didn't get a present for her anniversary that year. I guess my father thought I was the present :(. Don't know if I've had Uighur food, but I've had Uzbekistan, Tibetan, and Afghan - not sure how similar they are to Uighur. Of those three, I like Afghan the best. I'll look for it, however. Lars

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the birthday wishes! Sorry this is so late- there are good reasons! We went to Europe for an extended vacation! (Then I was away working for two weeks then went into hospital for some minor surgery. Now I'm home recuperating!) My birthday was spent in Krakow, Poland, we went to Wawel Castle in the morning, had a surprisingly good and not too expensive lunch for a tourist-trap cafe, found a lovely restaurant for dinner on our way back to our apartment, then walked home in amongst a huge religious procession that swept past the restaurant doors. It was magical. We worked out the procession was in honour of the Corpus Christi but we're still in the dark regarding the black-clad stiltwalkers carrying the 20' long artificial snake (shrug)

Thanks everyone! Since it is one of those "0" birthdays my DH suggested we hire a luxury villa in the rice paddies outside Ubud, Bali and invite all the family along! So that's where we are :-)
Having a whale of a time and did a Balinese cooking class today where they even presented me with a delicious Black Forest Birthday cake!

Dang, Coleen! I had an "0" birthday last week, bigger than yours, I'm sure and DH didn't offer me such a treat. Where did I go wrong!!!!lol Glad you're having fun with family.

Oh WOW Colleen that is one heck of a Birthday party.....your DH is a special guy. Damn I have seven years until the next big "0" comes 'round but honestly.....I'm not rushing it !

Holy rice paddy!! My DH gave me a choice of 2 ball games to attend for my B-day.

DH is definitely a keeper, we do spoil each other. I can highly recommend Ubud, out of the townsite it's very peaceful and the villa is soooooooooo hard to take :-) there are more staff than us! The Balinese people are so gracious and friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. I got a cool idea for French toast here- they make it with two pieces of bread with jam or marmalade in between, then dipped and fried. Very yummy!

Wow, Elery has an "0" birthday coming up in January, maybe we should go to Bali...

Hey, I went out to the farm and fixed fence on my birthday, while Elery worked, so at least I went SOMEWHERE. (grin)

Happy Birthday!! I have an "0" birthday this month, and we're headed to Berkshires! Certainly not Bali, but it should be fun. I was in Bali when I was 9 or 10 (on our way to moving to Australia from Hong Kong), and I do remember - some of the friendliest people! Enjoy your time!!! Let yourself be pampered! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
