My Wood-Mode, Brookhaven and Metal-Mode Cabinets

Well, I contracted for Wood-Mode cabinetry, custom, maple wood.

I got something I had never seen before in any Wood-Mode showroom.

Metal drawers.

Something that was never even discussed.

Something that I had no idea even existed.

It was installation day surprise #1.

We call it "Metal-Mode"

Did you know that Wood-Mode makes white metal drawers and pull-outs?

We didn't.

We don't even see it on the Wood-Mode website.

We've been to lots of Wood-Mode showrooms and never seen it.

Our contract said nothing about metal drawers.

But, we did get three wooden maple drawers.

And 45 metal drawers/pull-outs.

Hey - we didn't say in the contract that ALL drawers must be maple.

So - it is a mismatch. Three wooden maple drawers, 45 white metal drawers, white metal drawers that we never even knew existed.

As for interiors, the maple interiors we had expected were, instead, white melamine.

Huh?

White melamine?

White melamine is standard for Brookhaven but is available as an option for Wood-Mode. Standard is maple. Our contract mentions maple. We expected natural maple veneer.

We had told our designer that we disliked melamine during the design process.

That was one reason we chose Wood-Mode and avoided Brookhaven.

Natural maple veneer is standard for custom Wood-Mode cabinets.

Our contract never said anything about white melamine.

Designer's comments "It matches your finish better."

So, we ended up with a Wood-Mode, Brookhaven, Metal-Mode kitchen.

That was our installation day surprise number one from our authorized Wood-Mode dealer.
