Yes...it's been around here since 2001. Two supermarkets until Safeway bought one of them out.
I used it when I was confined to the house when DH was dying of cancer. It's great, but I admit that I didn't order any fresh meat..I waited until I could leave the house, pick it out myself, and just bought a lot and froze it.

I haven't used it since...but I do see the trucks around.

They didn't charge for delivery if the bill was over a certain amount.

Not here. We can't even get pizza delivered and we are only 5 miles from town.

When we lived in Toronto, Claude and I used to order groceries online regularly before we had a car. We often got discount codes in our email for $10 or $20 off our order. I think the delivery charge was $12.

Their choices of meat and produce were always excellent. I figure if they didn't send the best produce and meats, they wouldn't keep many customers.

We found that the sales were not as good as in-store sales, and we couldn't use coupons, so for us it was slightly more expensive than shopping at a store. Now that we have a vehicle, we never order groceries online anymore. Even with the hassles, I enjoy the whole grocery shopping experience - even with the kids.

A long time ago one of the "upscale" stores in the area would deliver. A GF at the time loved it as they not only would deliver but would put stuff away. All she had to do was point to the cupboard things would go in and the delivery guy did it all. She hated grocery shopping almost as much as I detest it. No, more actually! But they stopped the service. Then there was a delivery service who I was told was pretty reasonably but I never used it. That company was bought out and is still going. I did some looking and the prices aren't bad. Delivery for $25 and up is $5, $9.95 for under $25. Alcohol is available too and of course the normal fare. They have sales and I looked at their pricing and was surprised. Not bad at all. Especially during the winter it could be a great option. Even on the super hot summer days it would be a good idea. You have to call in the day before by 11 PM or there's a $4.95 charge for same-day. Sounds like something worth looking at.

I seldom use coupons (don't get any) so that's no issue. And if you figure your time, gas, vehicle expense and all, I'm surprised they can do it so cheap. Look at what a delivered pizza costs!

I imagine a tip would be appreciated. Even so, still sounds like a deal to me.

When you say they deliver it, do they actually bring the bags right into your house for you, too? That's the part I'd love. And $5 delivery sounds amazing!!

Yes, I have Peapod. But DH doesn't like the idea. You can't look over the meat, plus they charge extra for delivery. I see the truck in my neighborhood and I am so jealous!

I did this for many months when I was on crutches. You cannot walk on crutches and push a shopping cart, and using one of those driving carts would just be so hard.

I shopped online, scheduled delivery right in the back door, and they put the stuff on my kitchen counter. They would not put it away or cook, so that is my only complaint.

I think I paid about $10 per delivery. Worth every cent.

We do not have that available here. I can see where that would be a big help. My neighbor shops from the Schwann's man. If I didn't go grocery shoppihg I wouldn't get out to do much during the winter.

no we don't, yet. 15 yrs ago i had peapod in chicago, ordered online, paid $5-7 for delivery. LOVED it, did it for 2 yrs then moved to orlando. i know down in south FL publix does it in the nicer cities, i think it's $20. i'd pay that!

we HATE grocery shopping and because we shop on sunday we pass a wal-mart Neighborhood Store (just some groceries) we stop there, our publix is the opposite side of our area. not a single visit to the neighborhood store goes by w/o both of us saying that when DH gets done w/ school we will be paying someone to do this horrible task, no matter what. ~ liz

OOps! DD isn't in the country, I should have said that. She lives in a smaller town (population 2700) next to the big town (population 60,000)She works in the bigger town and said that is another reason she likes it so much, after driving everyday for 5 days she can stay home on Saturdays. They do deliver it to the door, you order the day before or if you order by say 11 am it is delivered between 2 and 5pm. Their prices follow the weekly sales ad but I don't know about coupons.I know she said the $5 delivery fee was if you ordered I think $50 worth of groceries which she said isn't hard for her to do at all.

Yes, we have Peapod. I've done it a few times, ordering all the heavy stuff - cat food and cat sand, cans of tomatoes, sauces, legumes, etc., tuna, soda, milk, butter, and so on. Delivery was about $10 plus I gave them a tip, and they brought everything into the kitchen.

I tried ordering produce and meats, but I prefer to pick those myself. It made shopping really easy, and now that you mention it, I think I'm going to try it again!

We have it here. I think it's only $5. I haven't tried it yet, but would if I needed more time in my day.

Tipping wasn't allowed with the company we shopped with here. I found that out the first time I had groceries delivered. We lived in an apartment building at the time, and they brought the stuff all the way up, and dropped it off in the apartment - in boxes. Excellent service.

I loved, loved, loved it when Publix had it here in South Florida for a couple of years, but they discontinued it about 4 or 5 years ago. It was wonderful. AND, a big bonus...you did NOT end up buying more than what was on your list....a problem for me....I always end up spending too much at the grocery store on stuff I don't really need. I've found that to be a bonus for online shopping in general. You only buy what you're looking for.

I love it. When my daughter is away, I use Peapod. They are great.

We have online grocery shopping here too. I used to order my groceries from Albertsons. I ordered everything thru them. I got the best of the produce and the best of the meat, probably because they wanted to keep people ordering online. They would bring it into my kitchen if I asked, but I always just had them deliver it to the garage, since I had cabinets out there for food storage, along with the extra refrigerator/freezer and freezer. I did this when I was working 60-80 hours a week. I detest grocery shopping and have often thought of going back to ordering online...but we live just 3 blocks from the grocery store and I would feel lazy doing so. :) However, they are "reorganizing" the Albertsons...and it really drives me crazy trying to find things. It sure is tempting. The site says no tipping...but I did anyway...and the driver always appreciated it.

One grocery store in the city offers online grocery shopping and delivery (maybe another one, but I am sure about the one). I've never taken advantage of it but I would imagine for seniors and shut-ins it would be great. Apparently it's not much more expensive than the other grocery stores either.
