Those are gorgeous..still have about a month to berries are ready in my neck of the woods...
I planted 12 plants this year myself, but will do the bulk of the picking at the u pick.

Oh, those look perfect. Like Terri, my berries are about a month away, maybe a bit less.

Nothing like freshly picked strawberries, though, a completely different creature than those fake styrofoam berries in the store that are white in the middle when you cut them...

I've been enjoying our local crop for more than two weeks now. Stilwell Oklahoma hosted their 60th Strawberry Festival last weekend.....around 30,000 showed up to enjoy one of my favorite berries. YUM!! 53 pounds...hope you made some jam...I did.

Well I've got Jam made and on the shelf, strawberry bread wrapped tightly in the freezer, caps taken off and cleaned and in ziplock bags in the freezer for down the road, and some for eating out of hand in the frig. Made some Strawberry Queens that I got from a woman on the SL board some time ago and those were good. Gave some to our friend/contractor to take home to his family and gave some to my Mom.

lakeguy we have a Strawberry Festival in my area also which is this coming weekend. We will be out of town so I will not attend this year.

So David....did you come over to the Strawberry Festival and NOT stop by and see me...??

I just opened a jar of strawberry applesauce I made this winter with frozen berries. It was the bomb. I canned it. Here's the recipe, from Dave Lieberman. I think he is so cute!

3 pounds McIntosh or other apple of choice (about 9 apples)
10 large frozen strawberries
1/3 cup sugar
1 lemon, juiced
1/4 cup water
1/8 teaspoon allspice

Peel, core and slice apples 1/4-inch thick. Place apple slices in a large saucepan. Add remaining ingredients and simmer until a sauce consistency, about 45 minutes. Use a potato masher, if necessary, to break up any lumps, but leave slightly chunky.

Oh my they are gorgeous. Can't wait for ours to arrive, I'm all out of strawberry jam and I refuse to buy the store stuff. Shouldn't be much longer, few weeks at most.
