Thanks for that tip, Glenda. I never thought of checking out at Walmart's jewelry counter. At Walgreens, I often check out at the photo lab or cosmetics when faced with a long line.

I've checked out at the jewellry counter before but I didn't realize that all stores had that option. Does anyone know if the electronics department has a checkout too?

Here in PCB, our Walmart will let you check out at any department that has a register: lawn and garden, jewelery, electronics, automotive, pharmacy, photo center, customer service - as long as you don't have anything that needs to be weighed - use the alternatives all the time - great time saver.

Yes, most large stores will let you check out at any register. WM's lines were horrendous the other day and we only had a couple of things. I grabbed Dh and headed for jewelry, but there wasn't anyone there, so we went to electronics, no one in front of us, we were checked out and out the door while the people at the front registers still stood in line.

I've used that trick for the last 30 years at WM, Target, Clover, etc.

Wow! I didn't know that. I'm not sure it would work for me. I go to WM every 6-8 weeks when my walmart list is real real long and when I check out, the basket of my riding cart is very very full. Dottie

I didn't know that. At WM I usually only have a very few items so I go to the Express line.

At Kmart, I check out at Customer Service. I shopped there for many years before I learned you could do that. ;o(

Lots of times if the lines are long I go back to the hardware or sporting goods...they will do it too and seldom have lines.

I try not to go on weekends because the store is sooooo busy. But if I must, I make sure to get something from the automotive dept. at the very end of my shopping, so I can check out there. It's the slowest section of the store!

Glenda, the jewelry counter at our store rarely has anyone behind the counter! I've had them paged before, and waited FOREVER for them to show up. It's very frustrating.

You can also check out at the optical shop at WalMart.

I discovered this a few yrs. ago. I tend to do it mostly in the pharmacy dept. of our drug store, if it's not packed with people waiting. Also in their camera dept. Sure beats the long lines...

The same is true at Macy's. You can checkout anything at any register in the store. I go around the store, grab anything I want and head for the men's department or jewelry , depending on which floor I'm on. Works for me!

I check out in the sporting goods or garden center most of the time,and i usually park back by the garden center.

That's great and wonderful, unless your a customer waiting to look at something in Jewelry..and the cashier is busy ringing up a buggy full of stuff, because someone doesn't want to wait in line! ;)
