Hi, I have the Franke RXX-120 double sink with intergral shelves on both sides. On one side I have the grid drainer and the bottom grid drainer on the other side (plastic coated to protect my dishes). I love it. Before I had my kitchen redone, I had a dish rack which I just hated. The shelf pretty much acts as a dish rack and my counters are always clear. And I use it for washing vegetables, meat etc. I can season right on the shelf and rinse. I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the other sinks but I think you would be very pleased with the Franke. At first it did seem really shiny and glaring but the finish mellowed out alot. I clean it with soft scrub and use the Franke polish about once a month. Sounds like you're getting a good price too. I purchased from WSCDirect in Sept. I scoured the internet for days and they had the best price for mine (forget the local plumbing stores, so outrageous). That's my 2 cents and good luck.

I fell in love with the SS508 months ago myself. I've read several replies where people mention it isn't a big deal to clean. When I tried to talk myself into the cheaper one I found that the dimensions didn't meet my needs as well since I'm going with a 30" cabinet anyway. Then when I was finally ready to order it was out of stock!!! I waited at least a month and made many phone calls waiting for it. It's on it's way to my house now - with the smaller square sink. Again I tried to save money and go with the rounded version but size once again pushed me towards my favored choice anyway.

I am currently doing my research on buying ANOTHER single bowl sink. Yes that's right ANOTHER one. Why you ask, well it goes something like this, I am one of those gals that always wants the best bang for her buck, and I have almost always been happy with my generic purchase. I had my eye on a Blanco sink that I really liked and went out searching for something that had the appearance of Blanco but not a Blanco price. I found a company called MR Direct.I was ecstatic. The sink cost me less than 130 dollars, the shipping was about 20 and the grid for the sink was about 18 dollars. This is where the story gets ugly. I got my sink and it really was not what I expected. The sink had this Chinese feel to it and when my husband inspected it he said it was very light and didnt have the best soundproofing. The stainless steel grid was not stainless at all, and had huge spaces in them and very poorly constructed. We were on a time crunch though and our granite guys needed the template that same day the sink was delivered. So I closed my eyes and handed the sink over to our fabricators. This all happened about a month ago and today after only a few weekend dinner parties my sink looks like a worn out dull stainless steel sink I picked up at Home Depot. There are scratches all over the sink (my old stainless steel sink never scratched like this one before) the grid is sagging and there is a weird smell that is coming from the sink??? I guess it is my fault for being such a penny pincher but I wanted to share my experience with everyone I could, MR Direct sinks may save you some money but the quality is just not there. I am currently on the lookout for a new sink that has the same dimensions as the 3118 model I bought from them, ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I just went to check it right now. I set narrow, tall glasses in it everyday and they have never felt "tippy", nor have they fallen over. I have put aluminum cans near the edge and if bumped they can fall over, because there is some slope. It looks flat and it looks as if things sit flat on the bottom until you look really close and realize they are leaning over a little bit. I would describe the slope as perfect: steep enough that it drains well, but not so steep as to make it hard to use or have things fall over. I tried the grate, but I didn't find it terribly useful for my use. The grate is 100% flat though if that helps. The finish seems smooth to me. Is there a rough finish in stainless sinks? Doesn't Ticor have some of those "zero radius" sinks, the ones with the square corners too if that's what you like? I would be careful about TOO flat a sink. I have read here about draining issues. I do have to use the pull down spray to rinse out the whole sink though. I suspect that the blanco's and Franke's have the same slope. There would be no manufacturing cost advantage to a little less versus a little more slope that I can think of and Ticor is the equal (gauge, finish, insulation) of those pricer sinks. - Jim
