condensor motor failed

Hi.

I have a 4 year old Carrier 38CKS A/C Unit. A couple days ago, my A/C stopped cooling. I went outside and noticed the fan wasn't turning. I hear noise like the compressor is running, but the fan motor appeares to be fried. I reset the breakers and that didn't help. I shutoff the A/C unit. Also, I checked the furnace filter as well and it was clean.

I have a service appt today. The condensor and compressor parts are warranted 5 years, so I'm within the warranty period.

My questions are...

1) Do you think my problem is covered? I think this fan motor is considered part of the condensor? I know I still have to pay for the service call and labor.

2) Also, do you think when the fan motor failed, would that damage the compressor as well?

thanks,

jasper
