I think you're smart to keep it simple. I really can't tell the difference between the tiles, but if I were you, I think I'd try to decided which sheen you prefer. The more distinctive veins might make it look more like stone, but the matte might offer more contrast from your granite. Good luck, hope you'll love the one you choose.

Luvspring I love your inspiration pix. And I must be one of the few who like either 4x4 or 6x6 tile layed on the diagnal. I am thinking of getting 6x6 Jeffrey Court (Chapter 12) in French Crema for my new backsplash. A granite showroom had these tiles display and the 6x6's were set on a diangal and I thought: "that's what I want" .... now hoping it will go with my granite (Delicatus Brown). If I go with these 6x6's I also want to, behind my sink, put a box with an arched top, filled in with 1x1 glass tile to blend with the French Crema. Also, around this box, the field tile would be the Jeffrey Court in their small 2x3 subway tiles in a brick pattern (all in the area above the sink). That's *my* dream backsplash and will be able to move forward when I get the granite installed (maybe a month out on this). Copper farm sink is *in the mail* or so they say. LOL. Sorry if I hijacked your thread ~ but I didn't want you to think you were the only one who likes the tiles set diagnally .... I want a sort of European flare to my kitchen and think this would give me the look I want, rather than straight set tiles. Good luck and let us know what you decide!!! jody

My tile contractor, who lives next door, says that he much prefers 4x4. He feels that the 6x6 is just not the right scale. He has also been installing quite a bit of subway tile lately. These are just his opinions, but I thought I'd pass them along. I had a designer tell me to go 12x12 as well, but I agree, I don't care for the look. His theroy was that when you do 4x4 of 6x6 in the field tile, it is hard to differentiate in the focal point behind the range if you want to do something different there. With 12x12, you basically get one tile, then two pieces in a normal back splash. I guess I am going 4x4.

lindybarts - mine will be very similar, except 6x6 layed on a diagonal, like kailuamom . I ordered the 6x6 but the 2x2 "dots", because I want them to match the floor dots and the "floral" pattern I have in the floor doesn't come any larger.... or so says Daltile. stnjan - I don't have tan brown granite, but mine is verde butterfly, which is pretty dark. I'm like terriks, I wash it down with soap and water, rinse and then wipe with microfiber cloth. Most nights it just wet rag and then wipe it with micro cloth. The micro cloth leaves a streak-free shine! terriks - I love your backsplash also. I remember you posting that you did it yourself. I'm very impressed!!! THANKS for posting your great backsplash!
