It's about 3:30 here. I've been getting ready for the coming snow. Birds all fed. Made two trips to the barn to stash some stuff, and several more trips to the garage to move firewood to the porch. I'll keep doing that until my back and knees protest too much.

Did two loads of laundy. At least I'll start the new year clean. :-)

More snow huh? I think it's nearly 50 here..

We've been watching the two male Anna's fighting over premium seating on the feeder..lol

The suet cake has been filled with little guys today..

I do need to top off the seed feeders though..

Stay indoors day, today! Not bad outside, but I have a load of wash, things to store!

Haven't accomplished anything so far :o(

Did start pulling out small stuff for upcoming cruise a month from today. I am always an early planner.

I've got black eye peas on the stove. Waiting for those to get done so I can go for walk. It's about 65 degrees outside with no sun. Dh is sick with a combination of some virus and bronchitus. The kids are healthy and skyping their friends from our old neighborhood.

We dug up our "wealth and good fortunes" this morning and I made biscuits for breakfast.

I've got French onion soup in the slow cooker (first time making it), and buns rising, to bake.

I'm making chicken breasts and green beans, and roasted sweet and white potatoes with garlic cloves and olive oil for dinner.

Right now we're watching the annual Winter Classic. It's an NHL game that's held outdoors. It's in Ann Arbor, Michigan this year, Toronto vs Detroit. It's -13F, and 115,000 spectators. They're hoping it's a Guinness record of spectators :)

I have swept most of the house..Jilly is shedding..getting a guinea pig a day worth of hair off the floor alone..the boys have been brusing her outside almost every day too!

Still haven't made it to the garden for the "harvest"..

But just about ready to put on the Crocs and head out...

We went to a Spanish language Mass this morning. (Didn't understand a word). This afternoon we are just hanging out, reading watching tv and will have ribs, sauerkraut and potatoes for dinner. In about 20 minutes I will have my daily vodka martini.

It has been drizzling rain all day long. Had plans to take some cardboard to the recycle bin and straighten the garage but those plans got shot so I've just been playing on the computer. Took a nap, too.

Been in my robe all day. Sleeping on and off. Still not through with Christmas celebration. DD comes over on Friday for our last hurrah.

Starting to sort our, shred, and get ready for taxes. Not sure on some things. Going to DD;s for supper, I think.
I am making some major decisions this year and thinking about downsizing. Getting rid of craft stuff, and other stuff.

We have another cold alert here....it is freezing cold. I am hibernating.

It has been a day with family. I went to Amber and Mike's for leftover cook out. Cheryl and Kevin picked me up and took me there. We also watched Alyssa bounce around in her new trampoline. She loves it. Now I am home and Cheryl and Kevin are visiting with us. We had hot cocoa and chocolate chip or snickerdoodle cookies to eat. Cheryl made those.

Just came in from harvesting and planting..planted 6 garlic cloves, harvested my "wealth", 3 leeks and a nice stash of some fat carrots..hope they taste as good as they look..

Also laid 3 big sheets of cardboard down in parts of the garden..the weeds are healthy and thriving! Strawberry plants look good too..It would be so easy to clean around them right now, but then I'd expose them to the possibilty of snow or frost damage yet to come...

Oh and filled the big feeder..ran out of seed..

We went out to lunch for Mexican food to try and break this congestion. Ate jalepenos straight and had the hottest salsa they had.....helped me a LITTLE, and him not at all. Boooooo

Today is what is being called "Green Wednesday" here in Colorado. Recreational marijuana is now being sold legally, from the medical marijuana shops. I figured I'd commemorate the historic occasion by buying some. I found out there are no shops in Colorado Springs that sell recreational MJ, the closest is 50 miles away, and there are hefty fees and taxes involved.
So, I didn't get any.

I am hibernating today. It is COLD out. I watched the Rose Parade and then made pumpkin bread. Now I am watching the Rose Bowl game and cheering for Stanford. They are ahead 7-0 at the half.

LOL, the sweet and white potatoes are awesome together! I did have some baked sweet on boxing day, and they were awesome.

Yum, I love leeks Terri. It's so odd for me to think that people can still pull food from the ground in Dec/Jan. How long can you keep harvesting?

Is Jilly a guinea pig? My friends have a couple and they shed a lot!! One is really cute......a long-haired one with swirls.

No, Jilly is Jillian, a black and white ticked Border Collie/Aussie Mix... so no color of clothing is safe! We had a GP when the oldest was a preschooler..cute tri colored long hair..I really liked him..I'd have another Piggie if I was "allowed"..

Well it's okay to harvest until they start growing again..then it changes them..I do let the little green onions go and pull those late late winter to early spring.

I don't always leave things in the ground..didn't last year..but did the year before..the carrots (well atleast the one I ate half of) is sweet and carroty.. :)

I love getting a few things out of my small garden. It's mostly weeds and hibernating strawberries right now.

There is nothing better then popping out to the back yard and getting some dinner components.

Some day I'd like to have double the space, one place just for berries..and a few yard birds to help keep the cycle going.

Hibernating also.

I watched the Philadelphia Mummers parade on TV since 8:30AM...It's an all day parade.

rode in the first ride of the New Year with the local bike club. Then a long visit with my daughter, and just got home.
