What is yogurt like in Spain?

In one of my old Gourmets, there's a very simple recipe for a lemon dessert using lemon juice, yogurt, and sweetened condensed milk. It was from a restaurant in Barcelona. I'm wondering if I should use thick Greek yogurt or unstrained American-style whole milk yogurt.
