My favorite topic. I haven't gotten many catalogs yet, but plan to order lots of zenias, love the seeds in that strip thing. Can't wait to plant more knockout roses and hydrangeas. Jannie what are your favorite catalogs?

I have a few, but my favorite is White Flower Farms.

I have a stack of seed catalogs here in the study. I've ordered my main vegetable garden from my favorite, Pinetree Seeds, and some hard-to-find seeds from Totally Tomatoes and from Le Jardin du Gourmet. I'll be starting my tomato and pepper plants this week. I love seed catalogs!

Where can a person buy hardy mums in the spring? I want to plant mums in the spring( if I buy them and plant them in the fall, they never make it through the winter) so I want to get them and give them a good head start this year

Deb here's a tip I learned (Paul Parent radio show) when I lived in Ma and NH. Plant those hardy mums in the fall and enjoy them. Mulch with leaves in December, I've been known to put bushel baskets over them to keep the leaves in place. Remove the leaves when doing your spring cleanup. Fertlize. On the 4th of July cut them back by half and fertlize again. You will have wonderful mums for fall.

The catalog DAVID AUSTIN HANDBOOK OF ROSES 2009 has such beautiful pictures, and you can almost smell them when reading the descriptions. It is a keeper just to look at whether or not you are into roses.

My neighbor just brought over some tomato seeds and earlier in the week she gave me some red onion sets.
I am glad we can plant stuff almost all year long.

I like White Flower Farms in Connecticut, and Plant Delights in NC for plants and Thompson and Morgan for seeds.

I like looking at the seed catalogs, but I told my girls to remind me in the spring not to plant a garden. Amber said she would and that I could come over and weed hers :) It is just too hard on me anymore.

this thread is right up my alley..love gardening..white flower farms and plants delight are my favorites also..arent knock outs suppose to max out at 4ft, well not to toot my own horn but I have pink knock outs that are 8ft tall

i love gardening cant do much now ,hubby said hell take over this year.
Anyway plantmasterm-What is pink knock out.I have flower beds everywhere Ive never heard that.

My DH had a nice vegetable garden years ago, but now I enjoy my flower gardens most of all. I'm pretty sure Knock Out refers to a seller of roses.

Heirloom Roses is rose heaven - love their catalog! One of my favorite places to visit when we lived in Oregon:-) You have to be prepared because own-root roses are smaller than bareroot at first, but they grow fast and are much hardier.

P.S. 'Knockout' is a rose, and it is supposed to be 4' max - don't know if the pink variety gets bigger. Are you in a warm climate, plantmasterm? I started typing here before I looked at your page.
