Updating a boiler - needing some advice

Hello...

I am going to be purchasing my mothers 2 story home - about 2800 sq ft including the basement. It is an old home from the late 1800's but completely remodeled about 15 years ago.

Few dilemmas...

1.) It has an oil boiler system...hot water not steam. I would like to replace this with an indoor pellet boiler and zone it (currently not zoned).

2.) No air conditioning. Cant deal with that...

My questions are this: Does anyone have info on a DIY 3 zone setup? I am quite able to build one, but just wondered if anyone has schematics, etc.

Also - on the air conditioning....currently the home has no vents...so my plans were to put 2 compressors outside and an air handler in the attic, and one in the basement....BUT - I was thinking maybe I would be better off to do a single unit, with an electric heat pump for a hybrid heating system in the winter.... I suppose we can deal w/ putting a plentum from the basement up to the attic for vents...

Anyway - any help, advice on my plans, etc would be appreciated...

Many thanks in advance!!!!!
