i did enjoy the format, sort of old and new...(trading spaces, up-dated, two ditzy ladies trying to cook from the french chef book) and i love the clutter/hoarder guy...

but like today, forgot it was on, and watched a couple of movies while doing things...

I watched a little of it, it seems like it will be good.

i have seen a few shows, i really like the ideas behind some too such as MasterClass i think it's called. She has a great variety of successful people lined up for that series. i just recently heard that this is a 'soft' start for the channel, the real beginning comes after spring. ~ liz

I don't get her channel unless I upgrade my satellite tv programming package to the tune of about an extra $10 per month. I won't be doing that so will just catch it when Dish TV happens to give her channel as a freebie for a month.

I wish her channel was available in the smaller package. I might check and see what Direct TV has for channels in a package in the same price range.

I don't like it AT ALL! Some of the favorite shows I use to watch don't come on anymore.I don't care for Doctor Phil or Doc.OZ or her friend "what's her name".I won't be watching it unless there happens to be a movie on there that I might want to watch.

Hi, Sue; I don't get that channel either. I just recently changed from Comcast to DISH because of the price. But I haven't watched Oprah for a long time, so I won't miss her.

If DISH should offer it free for a month I would give it a look-see. Does DISH do that?

I don't watch TV in the morning or daytime...I prefer the radio...or my computer when I have some free time. I am not a fan of Oprah.....and I read her Programming on my computer...and it looks like it repeats of her old shows. I don't think it is my cup of tea. I love PBS, TLC, Food Network and HGTV,Military Channel, Discovery and Without a Trace repeats, Mad men, American Idol, Amazing Race,So You Think You Can Dance....I belong to Netflix.....which is enough entertainment for me and DH.

I have been watching it, and I like what I see.

My satelite TV doesn't crry it. I'd be interested to see it. Hey, she has so many "spin-offs" already-Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, the organizer (Peter Walsh?), Nate Berkus and her gal-pal Gayle. They could all move their shows to OWN.

So will Dr. Phil and Oz still be on their old stations as well or eventually go just to hers?

I think like a lot of new networks it will take time for fill all of the slots. I know when some have started they just went to dead air, but now if they don't have a program they fill the time with infomercials. So far I like what she has own. Glad I just switched from Dish to Direct if dish doesn't carry it. LOL I am never that lucky. I record what I want to see anyway, as I seldom have time to just wait until something I like is on.

Dont get it and dont watch her anyway. Might try it if we start to get the channel

Do not watch her and wish she would just give all her money away!!! Incredibly self-centered; just not my cup of tea.

I like her new channel very much.

I do not watch much TV...sometimes I check out what other KTrs are talking about. I have watched a few things...that Master Class with Diane Sawyer was very good, and those are things that I am interested in ie. people talking about how they became successful and inspiring stories without an interviewer; what a concept. Nanny

I just deleted it off, and then downloaded it and installed it again. It seems fine so far.
Dish does carry it, but it isn't included in the programming package I have. If I upgrade to the next package for an additional $10 per month I would get it, but it isn't worth that much to me.

sue_va,
Go to Dish channel 102, and you 'should' see Free Preview Channels that are available to you this month. What you see there might be different than what I see, if we have different packages. This month I am getting 8 Encore Movie channels, 2 Hallmark and 5 others that are of interest to me...I don't watch the Tennis or Military Channels.

Hi, Sue. I have the America's Top 120 channels, with HD. I probably watch 6 at the most. Don't have OWN, and I wouldn't pay extra for it either; probably wouldn't watch it if I had it. :)

I have seen the Preview channel in passing, but will have to pay more attention to it. I haven't had time to really figure out all the perks yet, like movies. etc. It's like playing playing "Button, button, where is the button?

Sue

I've been a little turned off with all the expensive giveaways this past year. How many recipients are truly in need? If only that money had been spent on the truly needy, I might feel better about it. After all, there are many, many homeless and hungry right here in the U.S.A. Excessive to say the least.

I know this is slightly off topic but, it explains why I stopped watching Oprah and have not bothered to watch OWN. Maybe I'll try it at a later date when I get over my snit. lol

I watch it and I like it. They are repeating the programs it seems, but I saw a couple movies on there today. Beats sports/football. I have Direct TV and it's free (so far). If they start charging, I'll not pay for it.
I like Dr. Phil, and Gayle too. I think Dr. Phil will still have his show.

I saw the Masters thing with Diane Sawyer... it was good & quite interesting.
Watched the movie "The Color Purple"..... I thought I had seen it but evidently had only seen a few bits of it, because it was "new" to me. Excellent film.

I think she'll do a good job with OWN & once established it will be full of interesting shows.

I'm a huge fan of Oprah, she's an amazing woman who has done so much and helped so many in this world by her incredible generosity. You would be surprised to see how many millions and millions of dollars she has funded for schools, hospitals, scholarships, inner cities etc.
I love what I've seen so far. Tonight there was a show where the audience got to ask questions of Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil and Suzie Orman. It was very entertaining and educational.

We have an option to hide any channel we rather not watch. So OWN is hidden. Not a fan O.W. at all. To each their OWN. ;-D

I like it. I watched the Gayle King Show this morning. Last night I watched the All Stars Show. She had Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz and Suzy Orman. I am happy to have another interesting channel but I am going to miss Discovery Health.

I like the shows I've seen -- Peter Walsh's "Enough Already," the Dr. Phil/Dr. Oz/Suzie Orman panel show, the behind-the-scenes of the Oprah show. I like Gayle King (since the time she was a TV news broadcaster back in Hartford, Connecticut), so I'm Tivo-ing her show.

One of the funniest things I've seen on the behind-the-scenes shows is before she goes on stage, she calls out, "I need my shoes! Where are my shoes?" It cracks me up to think there's an assistant whose job responsibilities include carrying her shoes!

I'm not an Oprah-is-God person, but it's good TV. (And we certainly don't want to go back to those talk shows of "Sisters Who Married Their Brothers," "I'm Having an Affair With My Father-in-Law" and "Whose the Baby-Daddy?"!) A good thing is that she doesn't think she needs to be on every new show on her network.

The giveaways are not all coming out of her pocket--it's pure tax-deductible advertising for many of those gift providers--GM donated all those new Pontiacs a few seasons back (let's not get into the tax hullabaloo). So it's not like she's choosing to give audience members a cashmere sweater INSTEAD of donating money to charities.

And who really knows what Oprah gives back? We see certain things on TV, like the school in Africa, but I'm sure there are a lot of other community projects closer to home that she helps, but only her tax adviser knows for sure!
