I LOVE the smell of hair perm solution. When I use to get perms, my hairstylist started to put something on my hair once after she'd removed the rods and I asked her what it was. She said it's something new to take the stink of the perming solution out of your hair. I told her not to use it - I loved that smell. lol

I also think apples and oranges smell better at Christmas than any other time of year. We always had apples and oranges in our Christmas stocking and I guess that's why they smell different to me.

Oooh - one more, and I know everyone will really think I'm nuts, but you know the smell when you turn your central heat on for the first time in the fall? I absolutely LOVE that smell. Yep - burned dirt.

I avoid the coffee isle (I don't drink coffee and dislike the smell), our local Publix puts the coffee and tea across from the cereal. So, I go to Winn Dixie to buy cereal. LOL

mammie - I don't find that strange at all! A few years ago when we were going on vacation to Colorado and had to go through Amarillo, TX, my mother had commented about how nasty it smells driving through there because of all the cattle. I sort of liked the smell ...........

puppy breath

I LOVE the smell of musty, unfinished basements or cellars. The Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland has the same smell because it's underground with water.

Another odd smell I like is lantana, the flowers. They have kind of a pungent smell, and grow wild around here. They always remind me of summer.

While I drive along trying desperately not to hurl out the window....he's inhaling deeply saying "oooh, do you smell that? Smells like skunk." He's NUTS!

Freshly washed laundry, with or without fabric softener. Clothes dried on a clothes line. My comforter when I put it on the bed after having hung it on the line smells wonderful. Glad I started this thread. It's been so interesting to see how other people like weird smells, not just me.

Sawdust...Dad was a carpenter ... I remember Dad coming home late for supper and mom would brush him off, but he would have that fine sawdust on him. Whenever we are around cut wood, or someone's new house being framed, etc, I just soak in the smell and think of Dad! It such a good feeling!

Ok, you asked for odd, so here's odd, LOL. I love the smell of dog feet. All the dogs we've ever had, their feet all smelled the same, and for some reason it's a smell I love. I like to lift my dog's paw and take a big whiff of the bottom of it, putting my nose right up to the pads. LOL! Almost hate to give her a bath, because I know it will take the smell away for awhile.

I like to smell many of the things mentioned above, but one that I didn't see that I will add is the smell of brand new furniture and brand new patent leather shoes. I used to love it when I was a little girl and Mom would buy me new shoes. I would be putting my nose in/on them to smell them. lol People are funny.

As a child I would visit my old german great grandmother. I enjoyed the smell of her parlor, the antique red carpet, musty and worn.

I love the smell of horses, too. A funny story about my father. They lived on a farm and in the summer sometimes the cattle and pig smells got a little strong. He always would take a deep breath and say, "Ahh, it smells like money".

I also like crayons and play-doh (my favorites). I love the smell of someone smoking a pipe (I don't smoke). Sunscreen lotion, wet grass, pine trees are also favorites. Here's my weird one: back home in Florida, we'd drive through through a town that had a dump site and it was always burning. Everyone hated the odor. I loved it! To me, it smelled like Cheetos! Go figure... I wonder if people's sense of smell differ when it comes to smelling the same things and I wonder what causes the difference. Anyone ever smell a Daphne bush? It smells like Fruit Loops or Lemon Pledge at times.

Gasoline and perms.

I thought of another one today when I was at the feed store and I see they already have some bedding plants...Come on, SPRING!!!...tomato plant leaves! I also love the smell of the ocean or Gulf.

I absolutely love the way Gasoline smells in the water from the engine of a boat. Brings back alot of memories from my childhood and boating with family and friends.

I love the smells inside a drycleaner/laundry. I think it's the starches I like so much. There are so many odors that give me headaches, such as newsprint.

My daughter loves the smell of gasoline. I love the smell of bacon fring and fresh popcorn. Makes me ravenously hungry those 2 smells.

Jennmonkey- The 1st thing I thought of was the Pirates of the Carribbean ride! It is a damp, musty, a/c smell and I absolutely love it!

Also like the smells of wet cement, wet herb plants, hot cement when it first gets wet. I guess I just like the smell of wet stuff. ha ha.

LOL naughtykitty! A good friend of mine also loves that smell. A few years ago her family went to Disneyland and she actually brought along a little vile and dipped it into the water on that ride (to save some) so she could smell it later. hahahahaha! I thought that was hilarious!

I love the smell of scotch tape. It reminds me of X-mas when I was a kid. I love, love, love the smell of musty basements. I like cigars smell while being smoked or maybe its a pipe being smoked. It's been a long time, I can't remember whiich one it is. I like the smell of grass that has just been cut. I also like the smell of my dogs feet. It reminds me of fritos or something. I like the smell of new books or magazines too. I can't think of any more right now.

When Im outside and someone is pouring blacktop...dont ask why I dont know but I like to smell fresh hot blacktop.
