After spying on Mama and Baby, you can also go to the HOME page, and read more about them. Some lucky bear-spies got to watch Hope being born this time last year!

Phyllis, It was so upsetting when Lily kept abandoning Hope last year. No wonder Hope now clings to her like velcro!

I can't imagine how Hope is going to react to the new litter - she's still trying to nurse!

Thanks for posting that, I will keep an eye on it. I used to watch an African web cam, but had forgotten about it. I just googled live African web cams and found a hipo sleeping in a pond. He doesn't move often, you can hear hear the water splashing when he does.

Lily bear is definitely pregnant!!!!! The Bear Watchers have seen proof positive! She should be delivering any time now. Stay tuned.

Looks like Lily is tidying up her den! Maybe she'll give birth soon!

Lily Bear is acting very restless and seems uncomfortable. The Bear Watchers suspect that she is going into labor. Fingers and toes crossed for a safe, speedy delivery!

A cub was born 5 minutes ago.

They say a cub has been born... as of about 10 minutes ago!

There are two cubs born now, according to the site.

For you who have watched this for awhile, I've been looking at it off and on today and only see what must be Lily's backside--a big breathing blob of fur. I assume she's lying on her stomach, right? Does she ever turn around to face the camera? Is Hope sleeping near her, or under her--I don't see her at all. I wonder, too, where the newborns are.

Marita40, the cubs are tucked under Mama - she keeps them warm by the heat of her body and also by her warm breath. Not sure where Hope is, but she also stays close to mama.

If the babies get cold, they let out an amazing cry,so turn your sound up!

Lily does get up and face the camera, chew her paw pads,rearrange her bedding, and play with Hope, but i suspect that her main interest will be keeping the new cubs warm and letting them nurse.

I saw Lily's face up-close this am a few times, before she gave birth. It was nice to see her and how big she is in contrast to the cave, which isn't near as big as I thought.
-30 F seems terribly cold to be having babies.

Brrrrrr.... -30 F certainly is cold. The babies are lucky to have lots of Mama Bear fat and fur keeping them warm.

Just a couple minutes ago they were very active. Lily was doing some housekeeping , you could hear the babies "squawking" loudly and both Lily and Hope were right up to the camera. Hope is still being really restless, climbing all over Lily. Couldn't see the babies.

I've popped in to look at the den a few times over the week and saw nothing but a large breathing lump. Couldn't make out whether it was heads or tails. But today, I saw Lily, Hope and one of the babies. Tiny thing it is. Like Lydia said, Lily was doing her housekeeping and Hope was just trying to figure out what was going on (or look for an escape as it seems pretty tight in the den).

Now back to watching Barn Owls in So. Calif.
