Almost finished kitchen :)

Hopefully I will have a 100% finished kitchen in a couple of weeks!! :) Then the question will be were to place everything in the cabs....???

Wow--it looks great.

In regards to where to place everything...I actually surveyed all my stuff that was waiting for re-entry, decided where it should go, and drew it out on paper! This way I could measure for the adjustable shelves, and actually adjust them. I took longer to put stuff away when moving back into the kitchen than when we moved in to the house in the first place.

Good luck and can't wait to see your finished project.

Looks great & also looks like you'll have lots of storage room with those 2 pantrys. Lucky you!

Thanks Breezy! It means a lot coming from you since I tend to respect and agree with so many of your opinions and design opinions! I love your vent hood - wish I'd thought of or seen something like that when I was looking! I was just thinking earlier that I can't wait to see your finished kitchen! I know I will love it. Unfortunately, I do not remember the stain I used on the floors. I know it was a combination of two darker stains - one might have had a coffeeish name. They painted samples on our floors and I picked based on those, so didn't really pay much attention to the names! The cabinets came painted white. It was the brighter white that Holiday cabinets offered. This is the reason that my kitchen is STILL just almost finished. The paint job on the doors is AWFUL! You can't see it in pics, but where the stiles meet on the doors is splitting on just about every door and drawer front. Not just a line, but splitting apart. This is on top of numerous mars, dents, and nicks on teh doors in various places. We are getting all new drawer fronts and doors that the KD is ordering from a different cabinet company (Downsview), but he has TOTALLY been dragging his feet on it. Besides the doors, he STILL hasn't put in the little fillers around my appliance cabinet. I'm so mad - he has lied to us over and over again about whether or not he ordered it and why it was delayed - blah blah blah. Luckily, I have our builder who uses this KD A LOT and owes him a big check for another job. Essentially, he is not paying the KD until he shows him the proof of order for my new cabinet door/drawer fronts. I also am FINALLY getting all of my drawer inserts and organizers a week from today. I do have my shades, but b/c of the issues above I still have no glass in the top of my cabinets and don't feel fully done! I WILL post pictures when all is done. Thanks again Breezy!

I'm always thrilled to see a green kitchen that speaks to me. We seem to have a few elements in common! I'm using Duron's 'Rugged Trail' on my uppers. A very, very subtle gray green that resolves gray on the monitors. I'm repainting the lowers with its complementary 'Backpack' soon, since the natural light changes 'Rugged Trail' into something I abhor. I made my own butcher block countertop, which I've yet to stain. My floors are a chocolate ... something. I have to look it up. Wide plank maple or oak, I'd guess. Here's a pic of my uppers & you can see my cabinets and floor: Here is my countertop: I am also making my own credenza, of which I only have a "before" picture, because there isn't any after yet! :) In the meanwhile, the stacked cabs are more storage Yours gives me great inspiration! Thanks. (OH! BTW. Someday I'm replacing the doors I've collected from reuse centers with an inset door. But that's another fortune!)

Thanks so much for the responses. I think I'm going to go for it! Capegirl-It would be a working shade because we need the privacy at night. It would be up during the day. I think the window faces west and the front of the house. Also, the lights are from Capital Lighting. They were a really good price. I have the Ballard Design 12 inch Carriage House Lantern in the foyer and I really like it too. Thanks! bahacca- Thanks for the response! Thanks! I have moved a few things into the cabs just to get a feel for where I want everything and fall asleep trying to picture it all in my head lol I will have to try drawing it out on paper, thanks :)

Try this for a few days: Leave the boxes out. As you cook meals, take what you need to cook with and after the meal put it in the drawers or cabinets most convenient to retrieve for that task the next time.

Within a week or two, you will have your most-used stuff in the right spots for convenience. Then cluster the rest of the stuff by function in the less prime territory.

Normally ... tableware either close to the dining so it's easy to set the table, or close to the DW so it's easy to put away. Pots and

Good idea lazygardens. I will try that too. And I guess if I do not open some boxes - that makes it easy to figure out "far-away" storage for those items....

Love your choices of granite, cabinets and floor and how they go together! Very pretty and warm and inviting. I can't wait to see more photos. Is this a new house that is being built? What's beyond the peninsula and what's beyond the pass through?

Gorgeous granite!

I had everything mapped out in my head before I even ordered the cabinets as far as where everything would go.

Howmuchlonger, I agree with Judydel, that I love your choices of granite, cabinets, back-splash that only goes part way up the wall and the floor and how they go together. Can you give some details of what you used to renovate your kitchen? What is the edge you used on your beautiful counters that I like so much?

Judydel this is a new build. Let see on the other side of the pass through is the LR. The walk thru goes to the DR.

Here are some older pics (sorry I don't have any new ones to show you, will try to get those taken soon) but to give you an idea of where everything leads to lol

this last one is when you walk into the front door the DR is to your left and also the walk thru to the kitchen.
I hope this helps give an idea. I will try to get some newer ones, because we have the living room floor done now.

The cabinets are natural maple (no stain) and the counters are new venetian gold granite with a semi bull nose edging.
