I've been happy with L'Oreal Professionnel Texture Expert Infinium 4 Extreme Hold Finishing Spray. It is a very fine mist that doesn't flatten my fine hair. I also use it at the roots to lift my hair.

My hair sometimes blows around while I am trying to apply hairspray!
It's that fine, (also short and thinning). I just use Aussie "aussome volume" hairspray.

The only one that works for me is Paul Mitchell Softstyle Soft Spray. The only place I've consistently been able to find it is Ulta Cosmetics. My hair is extremely fine and thin and has just enough curl to make it annoying. The Paul Mitchell has good hold, but isn't so stiff that it makes my hair break off. I used to use Mink but stopped when it became difficult to find in my area.

I can't say enough good things about Sebastian Shaper. (Not Shaper Plus, just Shaper.) It does the job, but you don't even realize you're wearing hairspray. My daughter turned me onto it a few years ago. I usually get the best prices on eBay.

My favorite is Sukesha, the regular (Shaping and Styling) spray not the maximum hold or the freeze spray.

Redken Quick Dry 18....doesn't weigh anything down but holds, you can brush through it later in the day and never know you'd applied a product to your hair. Very clean, but with attitude :)

I was really happy to see this thread. I had short hair for 40+ years, and decided several months ago to try a little length. Bad idea! I was also looking to change from the stylist I've used for the past 10-12 years. I found a new favorite beautician. I think she gave me the best cut I've ever had. And, I love, love the style. Now I need a hairspray. I'll try your recommendations. Thanks, all.

I use "Frozen Stiff" by Beyond the Zone. I've been using it about 10 years now. You can only find it at Sally's!

I like Aquage Freezing Spray, Maximum Hold. Despite its name it doesn't make one's hair stiff/brittle. I can run my fingers through my hair easily later on but it still holds the style. It was recommended by my hairstylist years ago and I've used it ever since. My hair is fine too. I like Sebastian Forte Mousse as it gives my hair lift but not extremely (I don't wake up the next day with my hair standing up on end when I use Sebastian Forte ;>)

The one I keep going back to is one they only sell at Walmart in a white can that says PROFESSIONAL across the side and they sell two different ones but the one I like is the one that says it's like Vavoom. I have not tried the other one. I think this one is very popular because they are sold out many times. I have extremely fine limp medium length hair and it holds really well without spraying out of the can so hard it blows my style away which many canned hair sprays will do.

Everything else I've liked has been discontinued...if I had to buy something else I would buy Big Sexy Hair spray and play harder I believe is the one. The actual Matrix Vavoom is not any good, but it's generic version from Wally's is awesome!

Thought I'd post an update to this thread. I couldn't find a lot of the recommendations in my area, so I tried the Aussie hairspray that Pekemom uses, but I didn't like it at all (sorry Pekemom!). I noticed the first ingredient in that was water and the Rusk that I liked had alcohol as the first ingredient so I put the Rusk ingredients in the google search engine and found an article about hairsprays and a recommendation for Tresemme Tres Two Spray (Firm Control) which has almost the same ingredients as my Rusk did. It isn't sticky or stiff, but yet holds my style. I LOVE this hairspray and for about $3.50 at Walmart it's a steal.

I never use hair spray!

I use to use Aussie hairspray until I read a post here and tried the white can at walmart that says Professional on it and I do like it better. Thanks arkansas girl!

Glad you found something you like, Lydia. And your find is a lot less expensive than Shaper! :-)
