Didn't watch supernanny, but I wanted to reach through the tv and slap that conceited grin off of Alicia's face. 15 and her parents do all of her homework so she can concentrate on pageants? Give me a break. Couldn't spell America or put together a full sentence? She's in for one rude awakening when she leaves home. Oh, and how she treated the waitstaff at the restaurant? She should have to wait on tables or clean motel rooms for a year or so.

I felt the same way about Alicia. I told my kids, can you imagine what the staff at restaurants have probably done to their food?! They must never watch the shows that show how people spit and do other things to rude customers' food. I think that she and her mom and dad, all 3, should have to work in a restaurant for a year. I bet they haven't changed really since the show. We also wondered if she is doing her own homework now since her teachers will find out about her mom doing it for her.

Yes, I watched them both. I couldn't believe the 'father' saying that with her (the pagent queen) looks she'll be able to get anything she wants. The other little gal, who was into education, I think will go a lot farther in life. Looks fade. I wonder how much of that is true? I'd like to see what the neighbors/friends say, and it that is really what they're like.
On Supernanny, I felt so sorry for those two girls too. I could have slapped the mom. She doesn't have time for the kids, so she pushes it off on her daughters. They have no time to be normal teenagers in any area.

I saw SuperNanny and almost cried!!!!
My gosh those poor kids! I noticed the rings under the girls eyes and thought my gosh can your parents NOT see this? When she fainted my heart was in my throat.
I wonder if her parents really did change after the show was over? Her father did seem like he was trying, but the "mother" was putting on for the camera IMO just like the girls discussed.

I watched both of those shows and wondered how the parents could allow that to be filmed and shown to the public.

I wanted to watch Wife Swap, but we don't get ABC. The one couple from Missouri live in the same county as us, they had a story in the paper this week about them.

Watched Wife Swap for about 5 minutes, and turned it off!

I watched the 2nd SuperNanny. Those parents should be in parenting classes and under CPS watch. "Those girls are like slaves" is exactly what I said.
Why do people have children that they don't want to raise?

You could find a hundred girls at the local mall on any given day who are far prettier than Alicia. They're not wearing flippers on their teeth either.

Flippers are a thin removable veneers that are worn over your natural teeth. One of the companies that makes them has Alicia on their "smile page" as a happy customer.

watched all 3...i was horrified how ignorant the sparkle girl was....did you see her trying to read late in the show? 15 and couldn't read/pronounce the word choak???they've absolutely stunted her education...and wondering what the school system is saying about now??

i was rather taken aback by fem-dad...didn't theysay they were members/minister of the quaker church? when i was growing up i was taught they were non-violent...screaming out of the driveway, and carrying the youngest dd and yelling to point she was crying...

I watched the Supernanny - I find that show really interesting in spite of the fact I don't have any kids. All I could think is what a huge, life altering impact parents have on their childen - immediately and in the future as they become adults. And how freely many people seem to enter into the endeavor or parenthood and how ill prepared some of them are for the job. Almost as if people feel they are entitled to have children whether they are capable of raising them or not. It's really sad. What are these people thinking....

I felt very sorry for those two girls on SN~~I was wondering how long they had been homeschooled?? I thought home schooling meant your parent taught you or at least was there??? I think they did home schooling so the mom could work:(

There was a large age gap between the girls and the little boys, such stupid parents to have three little ones and leave them to the girls to raise.

I agree Lunchlady. I believe it will be just like the younger girl said, once the cameras are gone things will go back to being the same as before.

I admire those teens though. They cried out for help and now maybe some sort of social services will step in to help the family.

The older teen is almost old enough to leave home. The younger is on the verge of a break-down. The boys will end up little gangbangers on the street.

I would like to see a reunion show every few years to see how some of these families turn out.

I watched both of them and i wanted to slap some sense into the parents of the gal that was in the beauty pagents.She was dumber than rocks.

The second one made me cry,it brought back sooo many memories for me.I kinda lived that life all through high school.My mom died when i was 9,and when i was 13 i was sent to live with an aunt and uncle.The aunt treated me like that,uncle was always at work.I had to care for her 2 kids,and my grandfather(he had had a stroke),clean house,cook,laundry,and i mean with a ringer washer and hanging them out to dry.Plus going to the spring everyday to get water.

I used to get migrains,and had very bad stomach aches.I toughed it out so i could graduate high school,which i did.After i graduated the wicked witch of the east,wouldn't let me go job hunting.Wanted me to stay home and take care of Grandad,her kids,the house etc.We got into a big fight,and i was able to call an older sister in another state,and she came and got me out of there,and took me to live with her.It was like going from hell to heaven!!

Years later i ran into my cousins at a family reunion(the WW'S kids,i cared for) and the boy told me that he always thought i was his mom,and how sad he was when i left.Made me cry.As he got older he realized i was his cousin.

Sorry,didn't mean to get carried away,that show just stirred up buried memories for me.I didn't think there was still people out there like that.It happened to me in the 50's.

I thought you ladies maybe interested in some of the repercussions the ÂSupernanny family are having to deal with. They are now receiving treating calls and emails. The children had enough to deal with and now to scared because of the treats is not a good thing. I've included some links as the news articles are long.
I donÂt agree on how the parents are treating their older girls and how they donÂt have time for their younger boys. Children are a gift and should be nurtured and enjoyed before they are grown up and become independent. The 2 girls show a level of maturity beyond their yearsÂÂ.much more then the parents! IÂm surprised the girls didnÂt totally rebel and run away. A family "works" together to make life good, not drop everything in a teenagers lap and go on their merry way. Shame on the Mom & Dad!

I almost felt like the SN team should have brought in CPS, since it affect the girls schooling so badly~~~that would have stopped alot of the after stuff and maybe got the family some counseling.
