I Pad/Kindle book question

Well, I've read a LOT of free Amazon books on my Kindle app, now things have changed. Before I would read them, and delete, and they would be GONE, now there's Cloud, whatever that is, and they go back and forth and I can't get rid of them. I've got so many on there, and don't know what I've read or not read, because they're all still THERE! Make sense at all? I just wanna get rid of the ones I've read!

You can delete a book from the iBooks app via the Edit button at the top right of the bookshelf, and you can hide (and unhide) ibooks from your Purchased list. :D Just remember, if you delete it, you can't get it back again.

try going to you actual amazon account page to the library there where all your books are stored for the kindle and see about removing them from there, that is where they all reside and it will re add them when you sync it. When you go to amazon log in and go to your account then manage kindle then you will see your kindle library with all your books listed at the far right of each book is an actions button click that and select delete.
When you do that it is deleted forever and you can not get it back so be very sure before you do that. It will not be available for sharing of course since it is gone for good.

"Almost" is a pretty subjective term and only you can decide what device would be "good enough." The simple fact is that the iPad is an incredible device and I don't know anyone who owns an iPad that wouldn't buy another one. I've never seen anyone, including children, technophobic adults, and even those mentally handicapped, who hasn't been able to pick up an iPad and be completely comfortable it within a few minutes. There are a myriad of Android tablets out there with prices as expensive as the iPad to those that cost less that $100. As you move down the price scale, manufacturers have to do something decrease the cost, which typically means slower processors, less memory, lower resolution screens, and the like. Only you can decide what you're willing to give up. The Computer forum on GardenWeb has had a number of threads on the low priced tablets. You can also try cnet (dot come) for reviews.

I find the kindle fire much too heavy to read on and I have the smaller one. I also do not like the way pages turn. You cannot read one handed as you can w/ the regular kindle (at least I can't) and you have to touch the screen which I find distracting, not as reliable and I need to worry that my hands aren't wet or don't have popcorn butter on them, which is not an issue with my regular kindle. I also REALLY don't like the bright colored screen when reading on it. It is like reading on a computer and I prefer to feel more like I am reading a real book, not a computer screen (I look at computer screens all day for work). With my regular kindle, I can use it outside or to read in the tub and this would not be possible at all with a kindle fire. I can forget that I am on a device and feel like I am just reading a book. I don't get that w/ the Kindle Fire. A basic kindle (not touch- I hate the touch and got rid of my Kindle touch) can be had pre-owned for like $35-$40 from cowboom. I would definitely just pick one of those up to read on and not try to read on either the fire or ipad, whichever you decide to get. I've bought two kindles from here already because I want to have one in each of our houses and they've both been in good condition. I've also dropped my regular kindle MULTIPLE times (onto concrete, and falling off a hammock onto a flagstone patio when my dog jumped onto the hammock) and the kindle is none-the-worse for the wear. I recently had that problem on my ipad, my books were gone. I looked in my little ipad book and it said when you lose an app, that sometimes it helps to shut it completely off, then turn it on again...and it worked! I usually don't turn my ipad off, just goes in "sleep" mode I guess. It may work for you too. The ibook app. showed in the ipad but when I tapped it, there wasn't any books there.

On my Pandigital Novel tablet/ereader I have a library full of free ebooks that I find at many online sites since it uses the epub format I can also use the library system to check out their ebooks just like regular library books but I can do it from home. One of my fave online free sites is feedbooks they have a lot of great books and they do offer them in kindle format as well. I also get a lot of free ones at Barnes and Noble. You are welcome.
On an actual kindle you can make folders so you can put your read books in a folder which is nice but they do not have that in the kindle app yet, there have been many many requests for it so maybe they will add it some day.
I would love that because my husband and I both use the one account and I would love to put his books in his folder and mine in my folder.

On my kindle, it has new on a banner on the new books I haven't read. If I start reading them it just has the percentage of what I have read on it. I still have them all in my library... but only new ones stay in my carousel. I can go back and re read the ones in my 'cloud' or library. but only new ones or the one I am reading stay in my carousel.... I have the kindle fire.
