Are you happy with your health care provider?

I'm so disgusted with the "medical community" right now, I could spit nails.

My long term "go to" doctor retired. He was actually a surgeon. But, when I would get frustrated with ongoing issues that weren't being resolved (like my hands and feet right now and the recurring cysts I've been getting for years), he would see me, "lets take a looksie", and tell me exactly what the problem was and treat it. No sending me on a round robin goose chase for outside labs, tests, x-rays, "specialists", etc., etc. (He was also the county coroner! lol)

I've tried about half a dozen general physicians since he retired and I think they are all a bunch of quacks. It's obvious that it's all about the money now. The first doctor I saw about the burns on my foot makes you pre-pay $218.00 for the "office visit" BEFORE you are even seen, then presents you with another bill for "services rendered" AFTER he sees you. My "services rendered" bill was an additional $183.00. The ob gyn I tried did the same thing. A yearly exam was $292.00. That seems like an awful lot. Then they didn't call me in for the actual appointment until they verified funds with my bank. I was floored! I mean, at least go into a back room to make the call, instead of right there in the waiting room where I, and everyone else in the room, can hear you.

I really, really need to find a good family doctor who actually takes pride in his practice and doesn't make me feel like the dollar is the bottom line. And that isn't so afraid of a malpractice claim that he'll treat me himself instead of referring me all over the place because he's afraid to make a diagnosis. Is there such a beast anymore?

I even tried a naturopath (sp), she looked in my eyes, felt the ridges on my ears, told me I had candida albicans and tried to sell me over $800.00 in supplements. It's out of control!

Sorry for the long vent. I have another appt today (5th doctor!) and I'm frustrated beyond tears.
