For those of you who have tuned in to my ongoing family feud saga here's the latest:
Sister 'sent' my nephew over to my house, without consulting me or DH - responsible adults. She 'told' my senior, not capable to care for herself, mother he would be coming over after his exam because he was grounded. That's nice - my mom removed her name from deed - she's a guest really.
Nephew called after grandmother after exam. Asked if she knew he was grounded. She said yes. Then asked if he could go to a movie, she said yes. She's not responsible for him, she wasn't asked to be responsible for him yesterday.
Nephew did not show up after movie here as agreed, instead went to a friends house. Never went home.
My sister and I spent the afternoon yelling and hanging up on each other. DH tried to speak with my sister regarding using our house as a daycare - and wanted to speak about her son but - here's the responsible parent - she hung up on him. I tried to call her about her son, she hung up on me.
Do you send your kid to a house where you have not confirmed with the 'responsible' adults if they agree to care for them? Do you later in the day call them, when you want to know where your son is and DEMAND to be heard? I just kept hanging up until my psycho sister had the police call my house. No problem with that - just looking for my nephew.
I told the police: Sister 'sent' her son here without asking us first - how do I know he was supposed to be anywhere? (This is 6:30 pm and she's called the police???? He's almost 16 - choke son around neck, keep son perpetually hanging on a noose - another long story). My nephew kept his cell phone off because he's beyond sick of his mother - I expect him to run away from her any day now. My door is open.
Anyway the police and my sister are not too bright.
1. Parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts - SET UP A FACE BOOK ACCOUNT and make the children on your 'friend list'.
2. Once on Facebook you can click on any friend and actually see the network of the child's friends and as a member of facebook you can now send the friends emails, contact notices that you are looking for child. Clearly identify who you are in relationship to them, let them know you are identified on their friends list (so they can check your validity) and ask them to use any means possible to contact the child. Especially if the kids cell phone is turned off. Ask them if they can call any friends known to hang around with said child and just ask them to call home. Don't talk about anything else. Kids will use online chat, cellphones and other means that most parents/police don't have access to.
Result - my nephew contacted home and was on his way 11 minutes after I sent out only 5 notices on facebook
Get interested in the children/teenagers. Once on facebook, if you see a lot of friends, have fun and ask about which ones are good friends, which ones are general contacts. This information I found out made a difference in the speed and time it took for me to find my nephew, who as I suspected was just being a teenager hanging out at a friends house.
My nephew is a great kid, doing enriched programs. The pressure from home to perform is unreal. My sister is OCD to control everything that touches her life to the point of pushing her son away. I know, we've had lots of talks.
It's very important to establish a safe friendship so you can contact them. Please pass these tips on to any parent/caregiver. Do this now before something happens. Social network can save a life.
Anyway, to make a long story short, they only way I can keep my two sisters from intruding upon this house and hurting my marriage is to see my lawyer and have a 'no trespassing order' issued against them. This means sister A can no longer tell sister B to come for a visit and dump sister B off with ME. This has been going on for years. It will now stop. I expect the same order to be delivered to me in return, but I can happily live with that.
Also, the 'babysitting services' (my feeble mother who doesn't listen to me or DH) has been told it's time for her to take her babysitting services where they are apparently needed. She's moving in with my sister this week - the sister who has been building 'that basement granny suite' for over 2 years now......yeah sure. The door is open for my Mom to return since my sisters home life is full of screaming and arguing and swearing on a daily basis. My Mom has asked me to help her find a care home.
After yesterdays events my Mother finally agrees she needs a care home. I made it very clear to her that I can no longer take anymore interference from her with my sisters and their kids. She has to go. I've done all I can but my mental and physical health is suffering along with my relationship with my husband. We need our lives back.
So stay tuned for further updates -
lawyer visit
locksmith
and other related details.
Get that lawnchair and popcorn ready. I'll put the beer in the cooler and finally enjoy a drink without a condescending look from my mother.
You'd think at 45 I could have my own life.
I am now!
