Rev-a-Shelf waste pull out hardware; Rev-a-Motion

Does anyone have the Rev-a-Shelf "patented Rev-a-Motion" system for their waste pull out cabs? Or another similar set-up? I know that Blum makes an electric "bump open" system that allows hands free opening of the waste cab, but that is a very expensive piece of hardware. Please advise

We are having one installed this week. It is on site here and looks very well made. I'll post again on Thursday when I see it in action.

I have a couple of Rev-a-shelf items. I'm not familiar with the Lee brand, so I can't offer a comparison, but the rev-a-shelf items work well. One other comment -- I purchased the trash can pull-out through the cabinet company because I thought it might be difficult to find elsewhere and it was TWICE the price. =80 And I don't mean the shipping, since it was coming with the cabinet order, there was no additional shipping charge for ordering the rev-a-shelf stuff. I later found the exact rev-a-shelf item, along with the sink tip-out tray, at Lowe's for half the price I paid the cabinet company. >:( The online price at rev-a-shelf was also much higher than the Lowe's price, and then add the shipping cost for ordering directly from Rev-a-shelf.

I clicked on your link, and I still see the same price that they always sell things at. I don't think they're having a sale, they just want you to think they are so you'll feel the urgency to buy now. For instance, the 21" tandem slide 563H5330B is listed at $17.99, which is their regular price. Don't be fooled by the crossed-out prices. This site ALWAYS lists their prices this way.

Regarding (2): what do you plan to put in there? I would think that even spices might be hard to get out with 4 tiers because the one above is in the way (except for the top tier, of course). I put a rev-a-shelf 5WB2-0918-CR in my 11" frameless base cabinet and I love it. It only has 2 tiers, and I put oils, vinegars and other bottles in it. I only attached the bottom shelf to the door, so when I pull out the door, all the bottom shelf stuff is visible. If I want something from the top shelf, I pull it out separately. We have been really happy with this setup because everything is very visible and accessible. The only thing I don't like is that it is only 18 inches deep, so there is wasted space at the back of the cabinet, but they don't make deeper one. I can't comment at all on number 1, but I also thought about doing what you plan in 3, but in the end I didn't. It should work well, though, I think. Good luck!

After having a trash compactor for the last 30 or more years, we are now back to trash cans in the new remodel. It would have been nice to have a pull-out, but our space is limited so we don't. The cans are under the sink and so far that is working OK. One of the things I made a conscious decision about was to not use plastic trash can liners. Do you really need them? Our garbage goes in either the compost bin, we have a stainless dog food bowl to collect garbage waiting to go out, or the garbage disposal. Trash goes in one can and recyclables in another. I make an effort to put wet stuff, especially meat trays, in the middle of the can. We did have drippy stuff from a bean can down the side of the recycle can recently, but I just emptied the can, took it to the outside hose and rinsed it out. It sat outside for a couple of hours until it dried. So far this is working for me. No smell, no mess, no plastic. I also take my own bags shopping, but still collect enough incidental plastic bags to deal with cleaning the cat litter box. I guess if this became yukky I would use the compostable plastic liners, but I really don't want to, and so far so good. I have to mention that I live in a climate where running out to the outside trash whenever I want to is rarely a problem.

I have the single bottom mount Rev-a-Motion trash pullout. It is not hands free. It has a gas assisted spring mechanism that makes it very easy to open and just a light touch is needed to close it. The website describes it as soft open soft close. Below is a picture of my pullout. Notice I mounted my cabinet hardware vertical so it would match the the cabinet door next to it since my trash is under my sink. It is not difficult at all to open it with the pull mounted that way but it does confuse some people.

I _think_ rev-a-shelf makes many different kinds of openers. Maybe they all have fancy names to distinguish them and I never paid attention? Maybe that's why sometimes you find items in the clearance that look like what's still selling at MSRP, even with the same numbers; maybe the closing systems change?

I have a trash pullout that looks like badgergals, but there's some signficant resistance to pulling it out. I don't mind it, but it's not "soft". I have another trash pullout that's a completely different design. There are no pulleys or mechanism, really, for opening. They just glide out - smaller, aluminum cans. That's very easy pull out-puch in, but there's no self-closing mechanism at all. It's also RAS.

To tell you the truth, it none of it matters to me all that much. Not as much as some other annoyance-parameters in the kitchen. I think a lot of thought goes into all this blum/soft-close hardware stuff when it may not quite warrant all that attention, at least not comparatively. YMMV of course. And I'm not saying it's not good to think about this stuff. Just that IMO making a "mistake" on this decision won't be really terribly horrible.

Ok, so the rev-a-motion trash bins are in. The mechanism is pretty heavy duty, I assume they figure you're going to fill it up. You have to pull it more strongly than the blum motion glides that I have on the rest of the drawers. I am pretty happy overall. I love the storage area behind the bin. We installed a recycling bin and a regular trash bin under the sink. The best part might just be the color coded flip top lids. No worries about smells or bugs!!
