Cloudy olive oil?

I'm so behind getting ready for Passover, so I was disappointed when my husband found that the two bottles of olive oil I bought both had some cloudiness - one had white bits of cloud floating around in the bottle and the other one was cloudy for the whole bottom inch or so of oil with some wisps extending up.

I returned the oil because I didn't have time to deal with figuring out why it looked that way - many other bottles of the brand on the shelf had varying degrees of cloudiness in the oil at the bottom. I noticed that both regular and extra virgin bottles in the brand had cloudiness which makes me wonder if it is due to something that happened to the oil in shipping. I've been buying this brand for years and have never seen this before.

Does anyone know what caused this. For future reference, would the oil have been okay to use? The grocery store clerks hadn't noticed it before and were quite willing to exchange them.
