Which color/paint for tiny kitchen?

I need to make a quick decision about whether or not to paint the cabinets in a tiny rental kitchen. Budget is definitely an issue. The place is rented, and everything I do to improve is "to be nice to the tenant." It's a studio, rented to young professionals, rent is at the lower end.

The kitchen is windowless; a new exhaust fan will be installed, but it's not vented to the outside, so I would expect that the cabinets are greasy and the new ones will also get greasy. The cabinets are solid wood and still extremely sturdy.

Countertops will be replaced but the floor probably has to stay for now. Ceiling and walls will be painted.

If I paint, do I sand, prime, then paint? Oil, water-based? Or Rustoleum Transformation? I'd also replace the cabinet hardware.

Would you paint?

If yes, all white or upper whites and lower blacks? Or black?
