Comments (4)I would recommend if you are shelling out for soapstone, which is at the upper middle range of natural stone countertops that paying someone for a few hours would be relatively inexpensive in comparison. I had a client who had to trade out a a brand new refrigerator in her old house for the old one in her new house and found some guy with a Sanford and Son truck to do it for 50 bucks. A new door for the refrigerator cost $400. Don't try to save money by hurting yourself or breaking the soapstone....See Morerefinishing a butcher block counter top
Comments (1)Save the sanding particles and mix with a food safe/water proof glue. The mixture should be same as putty is. Then patch as you would with wood putty. A common solution furniture refinishers use....See MoreGoing up North again. Need your soapstone refinished?
Comments (11)Thanks for everyone jumping in on this. I know I could get some jobs in other parts of the country, but for now it feels good to know that we are in a place we feel we should be. Francy, never say never, Mimi and I would love to get a chance to go to Cali. . . Most times that we have gone elsewhere it was because people had frequent flyer miles that they were able to cash in. It really helped keep the costs down to a minimum. I'd be willing to take a shot at making the fissure/crack disappear as well. . .that would be pretty hard to do though. . .lol You would have to prepare some things a few weeks in advance in that area for it to work though. If anyone would like to entertain the thought of refinishing, again, let us know....See Moresoapstone counter tops
