Do you have plywood or particle board boxes on your kitchen cabs?
Comments (5)I've remodeled two of my own kitchens. I can honestly say that I prefer the vinyl interiors....especially if the cost increase is an issue. I recommend that you beef up the EXPOSED ends of your cabinets with matching end panels or integrated doorstyle end panels. Some cabinet lines offer a 'plywood end' option as well, where the interiors are still vinyl and the cost increase is minimal. Why do I like the vinyl? I found it easier to clean and I just am not sure the wood veneer interiors was worth the extra $$$ for me. I would use that money to upgrade elsewhere....nicer appliances or countertops....See MoreDo you have any cabs besides sink base?
Comments (23)I have several corner cabinets (dictated by the narrowness of a row home): super susan, Magic corner pull out and 1/2 round lazy susan. I have two tall, narrow tray cabs and the above fridge cab. But other than that I tried to maximize drawers...which was new to me. (I assume we're talking only base cabs). In the past few months as I've sorted through stuff and tried to find permanent living spaces for everything, I've gotta say that I'm a total drawer convert. I wish I had more. I ended up putting my baking pans...pie pans, cake pans, tart tins, cupcake pans, etc. above my fridge in vertical dividers which I really like, but a lot of space behind them in the deep cabinet is wasted. If I had more drawer space, they'd go in vertically divided deep drawers. So would any platters that weren't too large to fit vertically. I have found only a few things (other than food items) so far which work better in pullouts or regular cabinets. 1) cookie sheets, trays and the like, which can be stored vertically. 2) Small appliances, which are great in the supersusan or on roll outs. 3) Giant pots...12 quart or larger. And maybe platters, depending on how big they are. If they could fit vertically in drawer base, set up with dividers, I do that in a heart beat too. If I had more drawer space, they'd go in vertically divided deep drawers too. I have found that everything else, I love in drawers. I happen to have ended up with a fair number of shallowish drawers (6" or so) and turns out they're the best place I've ever had to store serving dishes, loaf pans, lasagna pans and so on. Also in drawers: Mixing bowls. Small pans. Large pots. Colanders and strainers. Skillets and saute pans. Plus, mini-chopper, knife sharpener, measuring cups, including the large 4 cup measure, plastic storage containers, large plastic jugs and pitchers, and more....See MoreDo you have upper cabs that come all the way down to the counter?
Comments (14)"The little drawer itself is so shallow front-to-back that it's next to useless. It's good for cloth napkins, napkin rings and candles. It's not even deep enough for silverware...." Sweeby: I have a 36-inch wide wall cabinet (total height is 54 inches) that sits on the countertop. The bottom drawer below the shelves is 33 inches wide and 7.5 inches deep. My silverware containers, purchased from stacksandstacks.com, are 12 inches long and 7 inches wide. I will put two of them short end to short end, and I'll have enough room left over for two small containers of wine bottle opening gizmos....See MoreQuestion for those of you that picked a paint color for cream cab
Comments (9)We are using BM Lancaster White. We had to have the sample color matched, because when the paint was mixed according to the computerized formula, it came out white-white, when it's actually quite creamy. (Could have been human error on the first mix, but using the color match made sure it would come out right.) Also, since Satin Impervo, which we used, as well as most other enamels used for cabinets, has a little bit of sheen, any color does look lighter on the cabinets than on a paint chip....See MoreBunny
