Should KD have given me the option of fake drawer for DW panels?
Comments (32)Cotehele, can you tell me the measurement of your gap from top of backer to countertop and the measurement from top to bottom of your backer panel (not to the floor)? I need to reorder the right size. Designer claims there is no error and wants me to pay twice. However from bottom of cabinets to countertop is 30" and designer ordered one that is over 30" (it would go below the cabinets even if there is no little gap....See MoreDo you have a hardware pull on Fake Sink Front
Comments (19)I have pulls in front of fake sink drawers as I like the look a lot better. I have NEVER bumped into it... as stated above, the counter lip sticks out further than the pull. I just tried to lean into the pull and it is physically not possible for me at my sinks (are some of you double-jointed?!) For those who think this would be an issue, did you experience it in a kitchen at some point? (Either the counter didn't have a normal overhang or the hardware protruded more?) The only hardware that bother me at all are my knobs on the island since they catch on loose clothes. RE: guests: I know they are capable of anything, but I think most know the drawer in front of a sink doesn't pull out. I always skip that drawer in other people's kitchens when looking for silverware. RE: a towel bar in that spot. I don't like the idea of a wet/damp towel touching the wood cabinets. Also, it could block the doors below....See MoreDo you put handles on the 'fake' cabinet under the sink?
Comments (16)I like the handles installed as well as I really like things to look fairly symmetrical. I have the same handles throughout, going left-right or up-down depending on if they are on a cabinet or drawer. I just felt that nothing on a drawer would be like introducing a third element. It is personal preference - a lot of people like to mix knobs, handles, etc. That's what is so nice about being able to design your own kitchen - you don't have to live with someone else's preferences! By the way, my handles don't get in the way and they are quite large. Hope this helps!...See MoreKnobs or pulls on fake sink base drawer?
Comments (17)I wouldn't have known about the blue tape thing if it weren't for GW! It works so well. We don't have anything on our sink panel - DH was adamant about this. I doubt we'd have the kind of company that wants to help wash up enough to be worried about them yanking hard on false pulls/knobs, though. I'd think someone would really have to grab the pulls and lean back and put some weight in it for even the remotest chance that I'd be worried about it. I thought it looked slightly strange just being this flat 36" expanse - for about a week. It's about the last thing that I or anyone would notice in our kitchen now, believe me....See Moredebo_2006
