Thinking of mixing New Venetian Gold w/Crema Bordeaux granite
Comments (1)Mixing two stones is generally done well when they contrast. Like Absolute Black and White Princess or New Venetian Gold and Tan Brown. Or Crema Bordeaux and Coffee Brown Silestone. One light and one dark. One busy and one calm. Etc. Your two do not contrast well. I'm all for recycling, but there needs to be a guiding overall vision behind the choices of what you keep and what you bring new to the part. You should be reading the Kitchen Forum here for more ideas and more help. Comments (19)Ok Guys, I went back to the design center today and here are some new choices: Tumbled Marble Subway Tile Emperador Brown: The tumbled marble also comes in 4"X4". OR Tumbled travertine 4"X4" Chocolate color: I emailed the designer to ask of the trvertine came in subway tiles, too. Hopefully, she will get back to me soon. My pics of the floor tile did not come out great this time, but here is is with two different carpet choices (in the design center it was almost identical to the carpet on the right, but in the pic it looks identical to the carpet on the left!): Also, I came across this REALLY pretty mosiac tile (I have NO idea how much any of this costs, I've put in an email to the designer to see!). I was thinking of getting one of the 4"X4" tiles (either the marble or the travertine) as the backsplash and then having them put one of these mosaic tiles centered over the stove cooktop. What do you guys think? Here's a pic of the mosaic tile: If the mosaic is too expensive, then I think I may go with subway tiles for the backsplash. I think the subway tiles would look wierd with the mosaic. Let me know what you guys think! You have been really helpful so far! Thanks so much!...See MoreWhite kitchen w/Venetian Gold granite anyone?
Comments (40)So I had Roman Shades for almost 30 years and didn't know it. How weird is THAT? Mine were identical to the one's above but they were the color of the red in the floor. Therefore, I can't use them because I got sick of them. I really want cloth panels over the shades. They'll look pretty with the shades pulled halfway up. I'm thinking a small window pane check so it won't be too obvious and fight with the wallpaper in the adjoining room. Thankfully the wallpaper has a LOT of colors on it so I have a lot of options! But ixnay on the roman shades. Sorry. :(...See MoreHelp Choosing Granite - New Venetian Gold?
Comments (9)Your cabinets look really nice. I have had a new appreciation for oak. Assuming they were originally stained and good quality you might want to consider having them stripped and refinished either with a stain you prefer or natural (different natural finishes may not 'orange' as much. Then find a counter that compliments the warm tone of the oak. Definitely bring a sample of whatever cabinet finish you are considering (or keeping the same) to look at the counters at the fabricator. You will be surprised how subtle some of the differences can be. Good luck....See More- 15 years ago
