What Are You Doing Today?

I just came upstairs to take a break. I have a crock pot of vegetable soup cooking and another crock pot has beef and pork barbecue cooking. I also got some cole slaw made. I made 16 deviled eggs and two pounds of bologna salad. I baked an extra rich chocolate cake also. Some of the kids may be here tomorrow. The soup is for today. KC is here playing with Izzi, they are taking a break also. Harley had another seizure a bit ago and he had two last night. Amber is wondering if is the change in weather that is moving in. It probably is. Rain is moving in and the temperature is to drop a lot by Monday. What are you all doing today and how is your weather.

I did some laundry and ironing this morning, and then I took the dogs out. Then I did some tidying up and took the dogs for a walk. Right now I'm making macaroni and cheese. This recipe makes enough for me to freeze smaller portions so I like that. Soon I"m going to hop on the treadmill and then do some organizing.

Snowing now on top of the ice we got last night, so everything is postponed for today, including the Fishing Derby and our lutefisk supper. I'm glad because I was to work at the latter, and family was coming up for the Derby. Now no one has to be out on the miserable roads. DD got my mail for me and I had a DVD from Netflix, so I think I'll just hunker down and watch that this PM.

I have work today and am recovering from 4 days of singing. We had our choral performances on Thursday and Friday evening, then 2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Our voices are about worn out and we're pretty exhausted. Plus DH came down with a virus, so he actually missed Wednesday's rehearsal and the Thursday and Friday performances. Bummer for him having to miss since we rehearse starting in September and you put all that work into it. He's one of the main first tenors so he was missed. I should explain - we sing in a Living Christmas Tree, which is a really big deal here with over 120 voices, full orchestra, and guest performers. It draws huge crowds, nearly filling the church most performances. Now I'm a bit behind in my Christmas prep but will hopefully catch up this week. Always do.

I've been at a Hearing Loss convention since Wednesday evening. Most of it wasn't very relevant to my lifestyle. I was hoping for a lot more focus on technological advances today. Not stuff that is already old hat to me. Not people trying to sell their procduct There was on speaker that was great though. The only one who didn't bore me to wanting to do a face plant into my water. I had a two hour trail ride booked for Sat. I got a good horse. But the wrangler was an idiot (IMO). No horsemanship. A wanna be cowboy without the ethics. Gave advice contrary to the the thing I do know. Since I was at the back I rode my way. My horse appreciated it. I told them ahead of time I rode with mostly English tack. Guess who was giving the reining horse? LOL At the end I tipped him as is the norm and casually mentioned that telling people to do a certain action was bad for a horse's back. I gave him an alternative to consider. He said that his way was the way the real cowboys did it and I should watch some old westerns and I would see. ROTFLOMAO I just smiled and thanked him for the ride. I didn't care much for the way he slapped his horse around to move it on the ground also. It wasn't outright abuse but it was super crappy horsemanship. Won't go back there. I had the banquet that night and was exhausted. Of all the places to hold this thing they chose an area that goes into triple digits this time of year. Plus it a tourist area that has only about a day or at most 2 days of things to see. Parking is outrageous. Their hotel charged 35 dollars a day. I stayed elsewhere and parked in the same lot for 10 dollars. Friday and yesterday the lot was full so I had to park at the other end of this tourist hellhole and walk the length back and forth. I'm glad to be home. Sleep in my own bed and ride tomorrow.

It was relatively "warm" (high 40's) yesterday and today. Took 2 mile walks both days. I finished cleaning up the flower gardens - I'd waited until the birds had picked the coneflowers and beebalm clean - and then repotted and root pruned nearly all of my potted fruit trees; still have 2 to do, but I ran out of soil. Managed to lose my pruners, too, wondering if I dropped them into a pot before replacing the tree. Sold my indoor bike trainer which I had never ever set up. I had imagined using it while I watched a movie or even a bike race on TV, but I much prefer the elliptical for indoors, and walking or jogging outside weather permitting best of all. Plus my DD left her small lifecycle also when she moved out. I am hoping that I remembered what I paid for it correctly - I think I sold it for the same price. As long as I never find the receipt I will be content! Last thing today was hanging most of the Christmas lights and set up an artificial tree and put lights on it, on the front porch. I didn't get that all finished - I think I need another strand of lights on it, and didn't get the few glittery ornaments on it. I'll do that tomorrow if it is not raining hard. I'll put up the hanging stars on the porch and in the windows closer to the holiday.

Did your order yours? Hurry up my friend, last time I checked there’s only 4 left and who knows when we will be able to get them back in stock.Gary told me that he asked Four wind for a favor in order to get some this year. Me too, I am very excited to start seeding my vegetable garden like you. Like you, I grow a lot of thing in containers. This year, I must control myself for one-two tomatoes and hot peppers because I always end up with a huge harvest. Can you believe that I still have for huge bags of hot peppers in my freezer? Lolll... Jan, when will you start your seedling? I read that we must start hot peppers sooner because they take a long time to grow. oh Bob, thank you, thank you so much for your offer! Everytime I read about your cherries jubilee it makes my mouth watering! Bob, I usually use the cleft grafting technique. Isn’t the most easy one? Is there another technique with a higher success rate? Mike, I am so sorry for your loss! I lost a dear friend last year and it still hard on me. Life is precious so you must enjoy it as much as we can and never take it for granted. Be strong my friend! Evan, oh I love thai basil! They add a touch of asian on every meals don’t you think? I love mine but I always have to start fresh plants each year because mine start to flower by the end of summer and they stop growing after that. I usually try to pinch the flowers to no avail.

Not a whole lot of anything, just watching TV. Well, channel surfing until something worthwhile comes on. Oh I did go for a drive just a minute ago - for donuts at the Amish bakery in town. Now I have the tea kettle on to heat water for my coffee and I'll probably eat a couple more donuts.

A dreary, cloudy day today - guess that explains my mood.

I'm cleaning the walk-in closet and sorting things to keep, donate or toss. So far I have the shoes and purses done. Now for the hanging clothes and the two armoires. I think it'll take me longer than a day since I take a break too often!

Dinner tonight is stir fry. Yesterday I made a batch of peanut butter cookies and made them smaller this time (meaning they're now normal size). It made about 8 dozen. Wonder how long they'll last? Thursday I made potato cheese chowder and I need to divide what's left into meals and freeze.

Well, back to the dungeon--I mean closet.

I just got back from running errands and going to the Home. We do a sister's night with Annie once a month from Apr thru Nov, in Dec we have a Christmas party, but during Jan/Feb/Mar we don't do any group things due to scheduling/weather/etc. Today was an impromptu thing and wonder of wonders, we were all available, so we had a sister's lunch at the Home. One of the sisters went to a nearby town and picked up KFC, Annie's VERY favorite food.

After my fifth store this week, I was finally able to find the right size battery for my large numbers clock/radio. It's only the backup battery but it 'blips' constantly until it's replaced. I can't believe I had to pay $5 for it!!!

I have turkey burger laid out for my dinner. Haven't decided what to make out of it. May just fry it and have it on an Arnold's Thin. I'll take a couple of deviled eggs off your hands, Sue.

I will be doing candy demonstrations at our local AC Moore in Willow Grove PA. Showing how to make toffee clusters and I also did chocolate covered popcorn and dk chocolate mint covered ritz crackers (taste just like a thin mint cookie):-) - tomorrow I will be teaching a candy class there.

I just got back from Bill's funeral. He was 92, married for 60 years.

Bill was a cyclist, and lots of us rode over from the park to the church in our cycling garb. Then we were in the funeral procession, and finally did a 15 mile loop in honor of him.

I wanted to do laundry today, but never made it. Also didn't work on putting away my Christmas decorations, but I DID crawl up in the attic and bring down a bunch of old clothes to try on since I've lost weight. It was fun - like shopping without spending any money!! My drawers and closet are full of things I can wear now! :)

Cleaning out closets now that we are empty nesters. I've posted a number of items on Freecycle. Feels great to get this stuff out of the house.

Left the house at 6:45 am to get DD to a gym meet out of town. Spent the whole day there and went to eat with the team, got home almost 5:00. Wasn't her best meet, but she did o.k. Floor routine was great.

Now I am diligently procrastinating the pile of school work I need to do. Not to mention the laundry and general house cleaning. My weekend is half over, and the second half is going to go fast!

Moni, what a beautiful way to honor your friend.

Barb, when I go to the attic for the big brothers' hand-me-downs for my 7 y/o DS we call that "shoppin' in the attic." And for now, he is still very excited about going through those boxes.

And now I, too, have a sudden craving for deviled eggs!

Went to a few stores with DS driving it looked like rain in the late afternoon (it did)
Stopped at Best Buy I had a 20% off total purchase coupon.
They had loads of DVDs for $3 I couldn't spend too much time looking thru all the bins but here i what I got
