Bald one, thanks. I appreciate being cited by you. Question: Had an RGFD installed in June w/ the '411'. I had hoped that it would have included the DOD feature. I was considering having a humidistat installed to take care of that. I find it strange that there would be 2 new models (of stats) released within such a short period. I had an RARL-JEZ installed at the same time and was told by my contractor that it would work with a humidistat. but I opted to wait to see how it would handle humidity without it. It is a 4 ton unit set up with 3.5 ton airflow. Humidity is O.K., but would like the extra 200 CFM, so thinking about going the humidistat route and setting up for 4 tons, if possible. Your comments, please. BTW, do you think there would be a program to swap a slightly used '411' for a '412'? Thanks. V

you should get more bids. just because a 4 ton 18 year old unit wasn't cooling, or cost so much to operate doesn't mean to upsize. 18 year old unit would be approx 8 seer you are doubling the efficiency. not only would the fact that the ductwork may not be able to handle the extra 400 cfm of air..but return air would also need modification. ducts shold be inspected and resized or rerouted if necessary. they should also be mastic sealed. 18 years ago they didn't alwaysseal ductwork as well as can be done now. always get several bids. and keep in mind that brands have two options for instance trane and american standard are made by same companies. one is more costly due to brand, the other is basically the same just lesser known name. carrier/payne york/lexaire. also get bids for heat pump. this will be same in cooling but save a lot in heating season. heating with electric strip is the most expensive way to heat. best of luck.

The furnace model number with the XR16 is an XC80. Very similar to the XV80 but communicating. Must be a mistake. TCONT803 is a fine thermostat to use with the XR16 air conditioner and furnace. Overall, I do not agree with the equipment matchups proposed with the furnaces and air conditioners. Oversized furnace on both systems, and oversized coil to achieve marginal efficiency gains on the XR16 system. I realize you may not understand all the implications of oversized equipment, but it is a big deal for comfort, efficiency and reliability.
