Do Not Call Me Curly Sue Today!

I had plans to go the the beauty shop today and get a perm. Well, the lady had to cancel and will make it for another time. So no curls for me today. Instead I hooked up my little trailer to my big rig and gathered up the trash cans out at the road and then got those unloaded and drove out back so Izzi and I could see the sights. All we saw was a very big red tailed hawk fly from our place to the tree in the field where the neighbor's cows are. Turned the heat on in the club house, making sure the baseboard heaters didn't have anything in front of them. We are to have some cold days in a row and I didn't want the water to freeze out there. I also raked up some leaves that had blown in front of the garage door I use and I hauled them out back and dumped. Izzi has loved her day all of that riding around. It is raining here and 40 degrees, more rain and then snow moving in. How is your weather where you are?

Another very nice day here but the bottom will drop out later today and give a high in the teens the next couple days. Might get a little snow/slush or mix stuff but I'm not looking for much despite what the weatherguessers are chanting.

Had several 50ÃÂ° days here lately and it's mid 30s now. Guess I should go get my work done before it gets chilly.

8 above, very windy from the North and some blowing snow. Not expecting much, but OH is it cold.
A Canadian clipper coming down. But that is normal for this time of year.

A similar thing we have right now, which is giving me NO END of joy, is branches (thing - is; branches - are -- whichever one you want) of an Italian plum tree that I pruned off because they got over our blueberries (neighbor's tree). The branches were in bud when I brought them in an d put them in water, but now they've opened and have those gorgeous, sweet-smelling plum blossoms against bear branches, coming out at gorgeous skew curves from a tall narrow vase (filled with water and indoor-plant fertilizer). I'm in living-bouquet heaven! It changes every day as more and more flowers and hints of leaves come out. It's a bit sad because they won't ever bear fruit, but it's better than having just thrown them on the compost heap. It's going to be a February tradition from now on : )

LOL! This reminds me of the shower balls from work! They were a gift in our Christmas gift exchange many years ago. They were big, red plastic balls that clipped on the shower rod between the curtain hooks - for decoration, I suppose. They were brought as a "real" gift (as opposed to a gag gift). But...they appeared re-purposed at the next Christmas party, and for quite a few years the big joke was who was going to get the shower balls, and what had been done to them since last year. Thanks. It was a low key day. The wife mistakenly said, 'What kind of cake do you want?'. I replied, 'Let me look in your Cake Bible.'. I picked out a triple layer chocolate cake. She only had two 9' cake pans so we went and got a third. Unfortunately she misread the directions and put in baking powder instead of baking soda. It tested done in the minimum amount of time but fell during the cooling process. Weighed a ton (actually 7 lbs) but I ate a slice anyway. Guess she'll never ask again. So why do I feel guilty???? Also from out of the blue I got an email from a guy I was in the army with 37 years ago. He lives right here in Phila & wants to go out for a drink. I looked for him unsuccessfully in '02 when we had a reunion. He lived in Herkimer NY way back when. A nice surprise.

Low 70's today and tomorrow and then in the low 60's over the weekend with lows in the 30's. It sprinkled a little this morning and now it's just dreary outside. Hope we get more rain! We've enjoyed such nice weather I guess it's time for some winter weather.

Sorry about your perm, but it reminded me I need to call and get appointments for Harry and me.

It's been warm, muggy and windy here in NW Florida. The temps are supposed to be dropping starting Thurs. night, for about 4 days - lows in the high 30's and highs in the 60's - the wind chill is COLD for us!

What a change today in Kansas! We have had such beautiful weather, but old man winter opened the north door today and now it is blowing very hard, snowing, and cold! It is
supposed to be short-lasting and back up to 50 by Sunday...I hope so...that is our burial day for DH's ashes.

oh phoggie so sorry the weather isn't cooperating...it's difficult enough...my mom is at her hometown of arkansas city and the weather was so warm thought we'd faint...guess there's never a best time...

Was 23 here in SD this morning 20 at 4:00 this afternoon. Windy all day and light snow off and on and icy roads.

We've been having afternoons in the upper 40s F - Much above average for SE Wisc. The weather service is predicting the return of normal winter tomorrow. They expect it to start snowing by 3 am Thursday and throughout the day drop 5 to 8 inches of snow and then turn colder. My snow shovel is tuned up and the snow-blower is ready.

I walked 2.75 miles today for exercise - I know what I'll be doing tomorrow for exercise!

Next week on the 18th, I hope we don't have a winter storm. That's the day I ferry my friend's car to O-Hare Field (Chicago) to pick him up. He's flying in from half way around the globe from the southern hemisphere.

It's colder here today too. 18 degrees right now and that's supposed to be the high for the day, so temps must be dropping. Low tonight is to be 13. We're in the middle of a 'winter storm' that was predicted to drop 15=20 inches of snow on us starting last night (lasting 2-3 days) but right now it doesn't look like we've had more than maybe 3 inches. Will have to wait and see how this one plays out. People here are praying for snow. It's all that keeps the winter economy afloat (snowmobiling, skiing, snow shoeing, TOURISTS). I like no snow. Guess I should be a snowbird, spending my winters in a more southerly place. Sigh...
