Plllog - although that goose pot would be way too big for me (15.5 qts., wow!), I was nevertheless curious. I called the LC outlet store nearest to me, and they do have it, though that store only has it in the red color. Before the sale discount, the outlet store sells it for $419 (at Amazon, it's $499). The May sale will take off 35%, which brings it to $272! If your closest LC outlet store doesn't have it, you can call one of the others, cause as I mentioned, they are offering free shipping.

Oooh!!! Shannon, thanks for the info!! I was mostly kidding about the goose pot because it probably needs to come with minions to carry it, but that sure is tempting! I think it only comes in the red. A good number of my Le Creuset pots are cerise (red). Hear me talking myself into it? (I've had a serious yen for this thing for quite some time...)

LOL Annie.. that's what I just saw that made me say... no..no.. nooooo... lol.. Amazon said shipping weight of 28 lbs.. omg. I made chicken and dumplings yesterday in our 7 quart one and lifting it from the stove to the table when full is a real chore. Even lifting it empty isn't for the weak.

I have been so confused by the sizes listed online. Some of my pots were gifts and the rest I bought in person. My chicken pot (i.e., big oval dutch oven) had a 5 quart sign on it, and that looked to be about right without measuring, but the online five quart has way different dimensions. I think the dimensions must be for the box, with the pot in diagonally, and the Amazon ones for the goose pot must be for just the lid, since it says 1". I finally Googled the number from the bottom, which is the metric linear measure and found dimensions on Le Creuset's UK site that jibe with what I have. And it really is 5 qt. But I can't find dimensions anywhere for the goose pot. :)

Plllog, you can call the LC customer service number for any of the measurements of their pots, 877-273-8738.

I just happen to know the rough dimensions of the LC Oval 15.5 qt. Goose Pot (from when I called the outlet store earlier):
wide side not incl. handles = 16-1/4"
narrow side = 13"
depth/height = 6-3/4"
wide side including handles = 20"

DH bought the 13 ¼ qt. oval for me, ya right, I can hardly lift it when itÂs full. He uses it when he gets an urge to cook. I do use it for making soup for the freezer but itÂs just too heavy for me to use in the oven if heÂs not home.

According to ChiefÂs Resource the goose pot measures 19" wide, 12.75" across and 9" high. I canÂt imagine lifting it if it was full of something hot or even something cold. You could really hurt yourself with this one if you dropped it.

Thanks Shannon and Claudia for the dimensions. It's not all that much bigger in actual size than the hen pot, but boy what a difference!!

On the one hand, I'm thinking that I really want this while it's on sale, on the other hand, I think I need a larger roaster. My graniteware small roaster -- well, it's their largest oval, but too small for a gigantabird -- is really the same size. And so much lighter!

Sigh.

I have a huge Le Cruset....round not oval....something like 10 or 11 qt....don't know. I do know I can lift it full from stove top to counter....but not out of the oven when full.
If I had that goose pot I would just leave it on the stove top and wipe it out, wash the outside, wipe the stove top around it and just never move it!! LOL!
Sigh...imagine that full of beef burgundy?...or even chili...

Shannon, I can't thank you enough for alerting me to this sale. I never thought I'd get over there, or get organized enough to call. I had a lunch date today. When asked what time was good for me, I replied, "Unless you want to go to the Le Creuset sale?" little suspecting that the answer would be yes! Turns out the place is remodelling so had an even bigger sale on unboxed pots. They had the pots I was looking for years ago, which had changed, that is the skillet lid sauce pans. Only a couple, but the sizes I wanted in the colors I wanted. They didn't have the little one, which I didn't really need, and they didn't have the mid-sized soup pot, which I'd been wanting, but they did have a great price on small baking dishes, and they had the small braiser, and the GOOSE POT!!

I did really well at that sale! Now I just need to find some discount minions. :) Turns out the goose pot isn't all that much heavier than my 5 qt. Now, add a 15 lb. bird, it might be another story. I think I have an old printer cart that I can wheel up to the oven :) I really did need a big roaster. :)
