How Many Projects Still on Needles

Are you like me and have several projects going at the same time, although not purposely. I don't knit all summer and only start up again when the weather gets cold. So I start each year with a few unfinished projects. I think at the moment I have on needles - four pairs of socks, two pairs of mittens. I also need to finish crocheting one hat, two dishcloths, two afghans and a soccer ball which is all crocheted and now has to be sewn together. I hate to start anything new until I finish some of this. Also I am starting to have this nagging little urge to try to do some sewing. I never was much of a sewer and haven't sewn for 30 years but lately I seem drawn to the sewing forum. I really have no desire to make a quilt and I am glad about that and I do not want to to cross stitch or embroidery. At least I have my unfinished projects narrowed down to knitting, crocheting and perhaps sewing. What about you?

Mirren, you wouldn't be normal if you didn't have more than one project going at a time, now would you? I always have a little one that I can carry in my purse (great to keep you occupied while standing on line), several in totes that I can snatch up whenever DH is going to be doing the driving, you get the idea. I keep promising myself that I will finish everything I have started before I begin another project, but darn it, when an idea pops into my head, I just have to go with it before it pops back out, right? Presently in the works I have a knit round ripple (only 5 rows left), crochet Delft Delight afghan (2/3 done, misplaced by DH for over a year - that's my story and I'm stickin' to it), a pair of knit fingerless gloves, a pair of socks, and if I keep thinking about it, I'm gonna think of something I want to start, so I'd better quit.

Give a gal a scarf, and she'll have an accessory. Teach her to knit/crochet, and she'll be in stitches for the rest of her life!

LOL Mirren I was just thinking this yesterday. I have a crocheted afghan, about 20 squares to cross stitch and then sew together and quilt, an appliqued parasol girl in the rain that will eventually be a pillow (I think) I just started a little needlepoint picture. I have never done needlepoint before so it's not going well at the moment and trying to teach a couple of friends the very basics of knitting (which is all I know lol. Talk about the blind leading the blind) DH calls it unfocused. I call it not getting bored with one project. Nice to know I'm not rowing this boat all by myself lol

Ahh, still gives me hope :-) Our lower level is crawling but it was a mutual decision. I didn't want my crew to miss out on starting other jobs and it also kept the dollars from flying out the door so fast since we vowed to not finace anything. Anyways, it looks great! he might be competing for subs with other builders in this area & his first choices (the craftsmen that build our with such care & were more partners than subs) are no longer available due to other commitments But also, they tend to be loyal to GCs who kept them working during the dry spells. My HVAC contractor cycled through a small group of good journeymen installers during the housing slump, doing his best to keep them all working part time to pay their bills. As a result, now that things are picking up he can bid on several concurrent jobs and knows he can get those subs full-time for the jobs. The contractors that pulled all their work in-house and didn't use any subs are having to supervise more and get the second-tier ones. saftgeek: I have spent years planning this thing and I'm not sure I'm going to be willing to compromise on the fly. It will undoubtedly happen that something has to be decided quickly to keep the schedule from slipping: that's why project managers have grey hair and nervous tics. Anything that can derail your schedule if it (or a substitute) becomes unavailable should have a backup with similar functional and performance specs. If you have a good handle on the functional specifications for your primary choices, and kept track of your backup choices and alternates for your major components, you should have no problems. It's the people who have their heart set on a certain make, model, and serial number of product, with the entire design and build depending on its availability, who go into a tailspin when the product is discontinued, the factory burns, or the fabricator drops the only slab of whatever and shatters it ... and they have to start all over with research and decision-making. They are the ones whose build stretches to forever as the change orders add up.

I am somewhat in the same boat. I did polished brass everywhere in my 1998 colonial. I didn't want to go ORB for my redecorating because I have white cabinets everywhere and thought it was too much of a contrast. I haven't hung them yet but I am replacing all my brass lighting with antique bronze-ish (using Murray Feiss Coventry Castle & Minka Lavery Belcaro lines). I switched my cabinet knobs to Cifial's French Bronze finish. They are a soft gold color with black antiquing in the grooves. They blend with the polished brass. I priced new faucets in Cifial French bronze and well, let's just say the polished brass will stay for a while.

Okay, good! Hall of Fame I can definitely take! LOL And oh, Katy, I'm two years behind on my son's scrapbook, I've got some embroidery projects that have been on the shelf for a decade, a drip system in my veggie garden that needs to be replaced and 2/3 of a yard that still needs landscaped. I'm also in a choral group--but I practice my songs out in my workshop when I'm doing mosaic. So that's an ingenious way of completing two hobbies at once. LOL Like you said, Slow, I can't imagine life without hobbies. Lots of TV, you're right. I am out of the loop on the programs all my friends and coworkers watch, but I'm okay with that! This is much more fun.

I can only confess to two; one, a jacket I have to put togethyer to do the collar and sew in a zipper which I couldn;t find one I liked when I took the time to look and have just forgotten other times. I'm on the first sleeve of another jacket, almost done but got such terrible cps that I haven't been able to continue. I need to wear a splint at least at night to maybe get better but as soon as I knit any length of time it really gets bad. Darn it, I typed for years and never had a lick of pain, now it goes all the way up to my elbow. I do have a sweater I started almost 40 years ago, it was orange, how about that. I don't think I'll finish that, just unravel it and use the yarn to brighten up future projects if I ever get going again.
