Comments (51)I'm experimenting with these Zinnias this year. I never planted Zinnias before... These Zinnias are getting sun from sunrise (?) until 2pm then shade the rest of the day. I can tell you this much so far. I started them from seed in the house in mid April. I planted the seedlings outside in mid May. I carefully planted them because they do not like be transplanted. So I had them in cups with MG potting mix and I used a spoon to remove carefully from the cups trying not to disturb roots. 100% of them grew. Zinnias did not start blooming until very early July. And they are blooming more and more here in later July. I have not had to deadhead yet. First flowers in early July still look good. These are tall Zinnias (3ft) They do have smaller growing Zinnias too... But time will tell.... This post was edited by jim1961 on Mon, Jul 21, 14 at 10:57...See MoreFast and Easy Light & Lacy Afghan

Comments (13)Compumom: I am not an expert. Ann is better that me, by far. read the " Perfect Pancakes " writeup in the Times. That get my T--d Churner going when I see things like that. I figure ,if they are so great, you don't have to advertise,People will know. I always wonder if they pay to put in writeups like that. We have the Pancake House here, that's always crowded too. Everyone say's they are great. Maybe someday I'll try them. I joke around and say My Cooked things are, " The Best in The World " Give me a break " Best for Who " I would like people to try my recipes though, then give an Opinion. I'm like Barnmom, Not a Pancake Person. I like Waffles. "and Her " But when my Grandson is on Leave from the Navy and comes down for the weekend, I'll make a Stack. We like them slightly thicker that flat, a Light Golden Brown and firm, not tough. Light texture but not where the Syrup turns them into a Soggy mess. I have all kinds of Syrups, Pure Maple, Country, etc. The one I like the best is Karo, Waffles and Pancake Syrup, with a Green Lable, because it is thicker. I can't find it anymore in my area. My Daughter found some in Acme Market, Delaware County ,Pa. You should know me well enough by now, that I don't run to see what Great Chefs are cooking. I have no intention of becoming a Great Ghef, just trying to be proficient in my Home Cooking. I'll do my thing and keep trying my own crazy concoctions. And I do have a few crazy Recipes. With that said about 200 times, I will let you go in Peace. I won't debate during Lent, that's what I gave up. I heard someone Shout, " Huraaah !!!" Lou- - - 3/1/09 If you don't smile enough, try more fibre in your diet. OR ELSE !!!!! When you do finally Smile, your face will crack. - - - - - All this for Pancakes ????? PS : Am I allowed to say " I love you " During lent....See MoreJanuary 2009 Reading
Comments (146)I just finished No-Man's Land: One Man's Odyssey Through the Odyssey by Scott Huler. The author has been fascinated by The Odyssey for years and decided to try to follow in Odysseus's footstep as he travelled home from the Trojan War. I found it quite interesting and read it in two evenings. Much less interesting was The Quilter's Kitchen by Jennifer Chiaverini. I've read most of the other books in this series and thought this one might be a "bonbon" read. My thoughts upon finishing it were...Why bother? Out of the 200+ pages, most were recipes and maybe 1/4 were story. I certianly wouldn't go out and buy the book, not even for the recipes (a few of which did look tasty)....See Moreminnie_tx
