Florida Get Together..how many?

Hey Nita, is there more than one Florida get together of KT folks? And who is or will be there? Do we get pics as usual?

How's the weather? Summer was disappointed Florida wasn't looking as warm as she had hoped.

One more question..if you've seen Summer and McCloud, can you tell me how they made the trip with their bad backs?

LOL @ myself..with all these questions, I feel like GabbyAnn. ;)

Hi Lana, yes there is going to be 2 get togethers. The first one will be in Tampa on Feb. 7th. So far there is Mimi Boo, Sharon FL, Dances and myself. I know there are more people than that in the Tampa area but haven't heard anything from them.

The second one will be over near Hobe Sound, which is North of Miami. I am hoping I can get in touch with April and Marion who live in that area. I am planning on driving over there for the day and Carol will ride with me.

I also had hopes of meeting with Shequit (MK) while in Naples. She posted to one of my threads but I guess the email from the GW wasn't working. Hopefully she will write to me or give me a call on my cell phone which is the number she called me at last year.

I didn't know that Summer and McCloud were going to Florida. I know that the temperatures have been down. If I had a bad back I think I would be flying instead of driving.

johnb51: That's what I have heard: that SW side is more economical and less crowded but it probably depends on 'where' exactly lol. I would have to be zoned agriculture and away from the larger cities a little bit since I have chickens and loud roosters. They do make good fertilizer! :P I was also born in L.A. but later moved to Phx AZ. I love it in FL. The humidity took some getting used to compared to the Southwest. I've been out here 3 years now. marinfla: I like your mango story. Its funny how little things can change our lives. Your yard sounds like paradise. I can't wait until I can put my fruit trees in the ground and not worry about freezes so much. Bob1016: Sounds like you had quite an education in fruit trees since you were very young. What a nice environment to grow up in! I can imagine that you miss it and your grandfather quite a bit. njoasis: Sounds fun! I just bet they do! Can you make a good mojito? lol

In Central Illinois- usually only see a few towhees the whole summer and have never seen them in the winter. There must have been a small flock of them that spent their days under the feeders in the yard this past weekend. Really enjoying all the photos.

It's sad that a lot of people even earning way above minimum wage cannot afford to pay rent and utilities because rent alone is so expensive. Most places here are $1300 a month for a main floor of a. If you earn minimum wage, that's over 75% of your take home pay. Then add up the gas and electric bill. Boom! There goes the rest of your pay. To buy food and pay for transportation you need a second job. So you live your life to work so you can pay bills. Rather than work so you can live a life. It's why we have so many children being raised by daycares and not their parents. Some couples have to work two jobs each to get by. My father always said "it's not how much money you make, it's how you spend that money". Back in the 60's that may have been true. But these days everyone wants your money. EVERYONE. It's almost impossible to save anything for a rainy day. I'm seeing more and more people on FB neighbors pages requesting food because they can't afford to buy a meal. Their pay doesn't last from cheque to cheque anymore. People are struggling and corporations are cutting hours to make larger profits. The little guy who does all the work is the one who is working his tail off and suffering.

Hmmmm...guess wherever Summer and McCloud are going, it's a seperate thing; I really don't know..they didn't give me a lot of details. However, if they did make it all the way to Florida, they should already be there..wherever that is. lol

Summer would never, never, never get on a plane. Their only option is driving and that's why they usually can't get very far..too much back discomfort.

Sounds like your group will have a good time.

it's been cold this week (50's day/40's night) and next week will be in the 60's to almost 70 by fri. until we got cold it's been VERY warm, like A/C warm lol. alot of my march blooming stuff is going right now, luckily we did not get as cold as predicted, after next week we're suppossed to warm again. ~ liz
