I made this hat last night and couldn't believe it worked up so quickly. We are making hats at the college for Caps for Kids so I was told any size from infant to teen would be good. Wanted something more current and this fit the bill. Used the Red Heart Monet but I think I'll make a few more in different colors/sizes - perhaps use up some of those scraps and make it striped. I tried "crochet pattern hooded scarf" in Google and got a lot of links to check. If you want a knit pattern, change crochet to knit. I'm working on one for my GD, I have the scarf part done now I need to get the size of the hood right and attach it to the scarf. Will it work? I don't know yet but don't see why not. I came across a style that is just a long scarf folded in half and stitched to make the hood part. What I want is more like a hood with the scarf attached. Good luck on your search, I never found just what I want so I'm making it up as I go along. Even easier! I used polar fleece so I didn't have to hem any edges. The one I made was 24"x70" (roughly, because I didn't really measure any of it). Then I folded up 8" on either end and stitched the sides closed. Instant pockets! The whole thing took about 30 minutes and that included selecting matching thread. I was going to dress it up with buttons but my husband adopted it and said buttons would just be lumpy when he napped with it on. It's been chilly in Florida and we have resisted turning on the heat, so this is his new uniform. LOL He has it around his shoulders every night while reading in bed and walks around with it during the day. A book stuffed in one pocket and his iPod and dog treats in the other pocket! (He's very popular with the Shelties and the cats can't resist snuggling up to the fleece.) Good thing I didn't use a flowery girly print!
