Snowflakes as big as tennis balls!

Really coming down here. We went to store, roads were bare, coming back the interstate was covered! Supposed to be 4-5 inches. How,s it where you are?

Susan, the weatherman says that people in Moundsville and below were going to get a lot of snow and quickly. I'm north and a little east of there in Ohio so it looks like we are going to miss this one. Stay in and stay safe.

In all likelihood the tomato was in the way, and the fungus simply grew around the stem. They do grow very quickly. A round, white tennis ball sized fungus sounds like a puffball. What color was the inside? Why do you say it looked like vanilla pudding "gone bad"? Was there any structure to the interior -- could you see a cap and/or gills? (Some mushrooms which have a cap, stem, and gills also have an exterior cover called a "veil." If it had any of those, it's not a puffball.) Most puffballs are edible, and it's so easy to tell the good ones that they're one of the very few mushrooms that amateurs can safely identify and eat (BTDT). My assumption would be that the mushroom is not harmful to your tomato -- but I don't know for certain. Puffball pics at the link below -- most edible, some not. Wow, OA, those chargers are fantastic and expensive! I think they could be made with wood with a scroll saw but it will probably be a lot of work. :) Ugh, I was at a dollar store yesterday on my way from Portland to Seattle where we stopped to get coffee. And it was soooooo much better than the one nearby. But, unfortunately, DH was with me and I just could not buy all the stuff I wanted. But, I did buy some green stemware so I was happy. :) They had so much snowflake stuff there - now I really need to find a bigger dollar store nearby. That was over an hour's drive from my house. LOL. Yatcher - I am going with blue and white too if I ever get the table done. :) Target has some retro blue snowflake dishes and stuff btw. Mo

Tennis balls are probably too small to do much good if the comforter is wet and heavy. You can take tennis shoes and put white socks over them and put them in the dryer. They are bigger and heavier and will work better. Down comforters dry best in a big, commercial dryer. It still takes a long time, though. Maybe several hours or more on low or medium heat. That is why I moved to fake down and use a duvet. Good luck.

I've made my own, like Donna Loomis, for several years. Just like she makes hers. I use white vinegar in the rinse, and the dryer balls in the dryer. If you get static with them, just don't dry the clothes quite as long, or lightly mist with a water bottle and the static is gone. I do NOT use essential oils with mine, as we both have major issues with scented products and perfumes. And if you do, remember, a little goes a long way. It might not smell strong at first, but when heated, it will reallly smell! I have 7 in the dryer right now. I made extra for taking with us in the RV, but when we are not traveling, they come in the house and get used.

They are saying 30 degrees for today! After last weeks highs of -10 & -12 it feels wonderful!!! With 3 plus feet of snow on the ground and a good breeze I am not sure it will hit 30, but still you can tell when its above 0!

It's 57 degrees here right now and the sun is out and it's a beautiful day. I should be out getting my garden ready for spring planting.

No new snow here either--but temp at 30 which melts snow, then blowing snow covers it, then freezes. Roads were interesting yesterday coming back from Minot. Slow is good. ND

Susan, some of my WV family (Stonewood, Glenville, West Milford) has been posting about the size of the flakes on Facebook today.
They all think the flakes are beautiful, but I think they're all pretty sick if the snow. Sounds like it's been pretty heavy for you guys this year.

Susan, I just drove from Morgantown to Clarksburg. The interstate is quite clear considering the storm but I pray for anyone out there now and tonight. With the temperatures hovering at freezing I am afraid the emergency crews will be in high demand.
