Boston Cream Pie.....in need of rescue

User

My plan was to serve Boston Cram pie for company tonight.

The cream is fabulous , no issues but the cake behaved badly while I was trying to cut it in half. I'm at the cottage and out of eggs so a second cake is not possible.

The top has some serious cracks in it and is slipping from the base a bit. The chocolate icing will hide the faults a bit but it will be obvious.

I'm thinking of breaking the cream filled cake into pieces, adding some additional cream filling and then pouring a warm chocolate sauce over it.

Conceptually it will work but I'm thinking it may result in a gloppy mess.

What do you think?
