I have never used anything ,but it is a major pain in the butt to have moisture on the inside...I don't think it happens to all cars however..not sure... but any info on how to rid yourself of this problem would be a help.

There's commercially made products for it. I used Rain-X Anti-fog a time or two and it might have helped but I really don't have much trouble with windows fogging. I tend to keep the air moving in the vehicle a lot when I'm in there so it's seldom a problem. Occasionally just cracking a window a bit helps. Get the dry outside air in to replace the moist air inside.

Other homemade suggestions have been shaving cream, the foam type only supposedly, rubbing an onion on the glass and a vinegar water solution.

The other thing I noticed when I first started driving, well, before that, is if you wipe the window with a napkin or something rather than letting the defrosters take care of it, it seemed to fog up again quickly.

The fog happens because of warm moist air condensing on cold glass. Warm the glass and you eliminate the issue. Deal with the breath getting to the windows and you'll eliminate trouble too. If you get a group of people into a car on a very cold day without warming up the car a bit and you'll have bigger problems.

I doubt you could get plastic wrap on there without it obtructing your vision. The windshields are curved and trying to get it applied flat and smooth would be next to impossible.

I do remember little "fog shields" that were on side windows. Haven't seen or heard of them in years though. Generally, cars have much better defrosters/defoggers these days than years ago.

Also if you have fogging issues it can help to turn on the air conditioner for a bit to clean it off. I've done that a couple times on some rainy days.

Another advantage I have though is I keep my vehicle garaged so it tends to be a bit warmer than if it was sitting outside in the coldest weather.

Oh, one other thing, be sure your heater/defroster is not set to recirculate the air when there's fogging issues. That'll just put more moist air onto the windows and compound the problem.

THE VINEGAR ANTI-FOG SOLUTION If you don�t want to spend a lot of money on anti-fog glass spray, here is a quick, easy and cheap solution.

1.Put 2 oz of white vinegar into a bowl
2.Pour 1 quart of hot water into that same bowl
3.Mix
4.Dip a clean, lint-free cloth into the mixture
5.Lightly wring out the cloth and apply the mixture to windshields
6.Let it dry
7.Enjoy

My Dh said their Mack trucks at work have the fog shields one their windshields and passenger window. The minute you turned into the sun you have such a glare that you cant see if you are on the road. Ther windows are really sand pitted though. He had to cut it off the window so he could see where he was going. As for Saran Wrap good luck. I dont even have it in my house bcause I hate it. It only clings to itself and not anything else that it is supposed to.

a blackboard eraser. got it from dollar store and also walmart. keep in the console.

Turn on the AC. That will take care of it. Just have the temp set to warm so you don't freeze!

I turn on the defroster setting, the AC and the temp to warm and that clears it right away.

Dirty windows collect fog faster than clean ones. Over a few weeks, the interior surfaces of auto windows collect a film. The best prevention I've found is to thoroughly clean the inside surfaces of the windows in the fall before cold weather sets in. During the winter, you'll have to grab an opportunity when the glass is above freezing, preferrable, it should be 50 F or warmer.

Years ago, I used a product falled "Glass Wax". It contained diatomacious earth as the scouring agent. Glass Wax, after wiping off the residue, leaves a clear film that resists collecting dirt and condensate. It seemd to help. In recent years, all I have used is Windex or similar product. It gets the grime off nad helps to keep the window clear, but is not perfect. When the moisture content ofthe air is above the dew point of the cold glass, condensation happens.

The best bet is to keep the interior surface clean and adjust you car's heater system to flood the windows with heated air.

I'm guessing those of you who say just turn on the defroster (or similar) don't live in really cold climates. There are often times here, where you've got the defroster running constantly, air conditioner on (mine turns on automatically whenever defrost is on), air not re-circulating, and you STILL cannot keep the fog off the windows. Plus, your feet are freezing because all warm air is directed at the windshield. And you never can direct warm air at your feet because it's needed to just try to keep the fog off the windshield. It's a losing battle. And that's not just one vehicle, it's any vehicle. Such is life in the north!

I've also heard that rubbing a cucumber on the inside of the windshield will keep it fog free. Might have to try that one and/or the vinegar one, one of these days.

I live in NE upstate NY where it gets very cold, and can say that all of the above settings do work, as well as just opening the window a crack for a couple of minutes. We have to park our car outside, so invested in an automatic car starter. Well worth the $$$.

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks. Gives me lots of things to try. I love RainX for windshield washer but I didn't know they made a product for fogging. I'll see if I can find it.

I agree that warming the car up first is a great help BUT our city passed a by-law that we can't leave the car idling any place for longer than 2 minutes. That isn't even long enough at some stop lights. It may be 3 minutes, but I think it is 2.

I had never heard of running the Air Conditioner, so that is something else to try. So is the vinegar solution. That is simple.

Running the air conditioner doesn't help mine when it's really bad. I'm gonna have to clean my windows and try rubbing a marinated cucumber salad on them!

When you start in the morning and the fog has turned to ice, the scraper doesn't work well on the concave inside area of windows.

It's a good idea, on arrival near home in the day or evening, to open the window a crack to let fresh cold air come in that'll move the moisture-laden air out, thus reducing substantially the amount of residue that'll have been desposited on the windows, come morning.

Actually, ole joyul, I'm wondering just how I go about taking a rag to the back windows while I am driving. Is that really safe? Should I give it a try? What would you do? That should be an interesting topic

Running the air conditioner will not work because the refrigerant compressor will not turn on in most cars when the temperature is below freezing. However, the setting of the air diverters continue to operate the same, and in some models, a particular air diverter setting desired is in the A/C set, so that would be the proper one to use for diecting air to the windshield.
