Faucet help for 30 inch Shaw Apron Sink

Debating between faucets and having read through multiple posts/articles here am wondering about reality of need for 11in vs 9in spout reach for the Rohl 30in Shaw Apron sink, as most faucets I'm finding are 9in. Considering bridge faucet w/side spray like Grohe Bridgeford or Rohl A1458 (sorry for model # but even after reading how to post, I cannot figure out how to get photo off website into here, maybe b/c I am brain dead after looking at faucets on this screen for 4 hours, sorry!). Am drooling over Perrin and Rowe 2 leg bridge with side spray (U4756L) but probably cannot afford, though found a great deal on it with 9in spout reach. Before breaking down to buy, after having seen them all in person as well, will a faucet with 9inch reach work well or must I find one with 11 inch? TIA!

Mine is the Shaw's sink 3018 with the 4764 P&R bridge faucet -- 11 inch. To have the faucet installed comfortably behind the sink and have the water flow directly down over the hole in the sink you need the 11.

I undermounted a Whitehaus fireclay sink because I wanted a fireclay sink, didn't want the apron front, and liked the sizes available in the Whitehaus product line. (None of the true undermount fireclay sinks quite fit my size requirements). I have a wall mount faucet, so didn't need space for a deck mounted faucet behind the sink--so the deeper (front to back) aspect of an apron front sink worked well for me to maximize the size of sink I could fit in my small kitchen. If you plan on a deck mounted faucet, though, you'll probably need to have countertops deeper than 24" to allow space for the faucet--check the sink measurements. Installing the sink didn't seem to be a big deal for the installers--they just added a support structure inside the sink cabinet and set it in. The countertop (Paperstone) installers templated for the sink, and added some shims to make the sink fit snug against the countertops. No problems so far, and I don't regret not going with the apron front. In my small kitchen, I think the continuous run of cabinets/countertops looks a BIT more expansive than it would have looked with an apron front sink. While there are lots of nice examples of apron front sinks in modern kitchens, I think I agree with you that a regular undermount sink will have cleaner lines in a modern kitchen. If you aren't terribly attached to the Shaw's sinks, you might want to look at Whitehaus or other brands (like Franke). You really pay a premium for the gorgeous curves on the Shaw's apron-- but if they won't be visible, might be able to get a better deal on a different model. (I got a great price on my Whitehaus 501 model online from Home and Stone) Here are a couple of pictures... hope this helps! (oh---and ignore my index card backsplash!)

I agree with rachelle -- everyone's situations are different, as you can see just from the photos and posters on this thread. I have a 36-inch Shaws sink, with one seam behind it, also the only seam in my entire kitchen, like rachelle. I have a bridge faucet, so it looks okay since the faucet and the seam are centered. If you trust your fabricator, I would trust his/her decision on this, although it's always helpful to check with people here. As for the question on the sink grids, that's been discussed so much on this forum. You might trying doing a search on this to see. I did, and learned all the pros and cons, and then decided to get one. But it's a very personal decision, like single-bowl vs. double bowl sink, or granite vs. soapstone. You're never going to get a concensus on issues like that, and why should we all want the same things?

I have a slight positive reveal on my sink and I really like it. I looked at displays with all three and decided I liked this the best. I did not want to lose any of the sink area with counter overhang and wanted the sides of the sink to show. I have clear caulking and it doesn't show at all. The sink is very easy to keep clean, I use Bar Keepers Friend, and the sink edges just don't get dirty. Once the kitchen is done and you are working in it, you won't notice these little items at all. Enjoy your new kitchen.

Thanks for responses! If the sink has the offset drain does that matter as much since water won't be going directly down offset drain? Could 9in work in that case?

The spout swivels from side to side. So when you do the holes in the counter you can put the holes in the exact place where they need to be so that the spout will be right over the offset sink drain when the faucet is swiveled that way. Of course if you have a faucet that doesn't swivel, forget everything I said.

Aaahh - perfect sayde, that makes sense! May have to consider that 11 in and save $$ elsewhere . . .

I have a 30" Shaws and decided I wanted the 11" so that the faucet would be over the drain. Also, I was afraid of splashing if it didn't, though there are posters who have written that they do not have a splashing problem with the 9".
I ended up deciding on a Rohl (P&R way out of budget for us, too) and splurged on it, though I did find a good deal online. The 11" looks great with the sink and not at all too large/long. If you went with the 9", one other thought is that having a side sprayer will address any other needs with having a shorter spout.

Thanks dragonfly! Yes, I had read your post but was still wondering what to do. Did you use a plumbing/building website or amazon? I have found a number of really good deals too but am a little worried about ordering on-line, though I have before with bathroom sink faucet from amazon with no problems, except for the install by DH :) I also wonder if our plumber will get an even better deal, esp since he sells to us at cost. Agonizing!

I went with the Kohler 6131. Expensive, not as much as the Rohl.... very happy with it. Really looks and works great... well made, easy to keep clean.

To be honest, I researched forever and kept shopping around online until I found the best price. It was around Thanksgiving, so I was able to get a good Cyber Monday discount on top of everything. I got my Rohl Country faucet from qualitybath.com. I had no problem with ordering and receiving the faucet. Packaging was very good and faucet (which came in its own dustbag, btw!) is completely solid and gorgeous. I did search all my local kitchen/bath stores and their prices were a few hundred more than what I eventually got it for.
Good luck! If you do take the plunge and get a Rohl's faucet, you will love it!
