Whoops!! ROTFL!
I just finished a baby blanket for my neice using 11 skeins of Lion brand Jiffy yarn. It's a nice puffy mohair yarn that comes in 2.5 oz skeins.
My next project is a pink & white afgan for my 3 year old Great-neice so I ordered 10 five ounce skeins of Lion's Baby Soft white and 5 of the same in pink.
When I placed the order, I honestly thought that the Baby Soft yarn was the same thickness as Jiffy, so I thought 10 skeins would cover exactly twice the size of the baby blanket.
Well, with Jiffy yarn, I can get 4½ x 30 inches out of every 2.5 oz skein, so I was figuring I could get about 9 inches out of a 5 oz skein, but when the yarn arrived, I noticed that even though it was 5 ounces, the yarn was about half the thickness, so now I'm 9 inches into the afgan and still only about half-way through the first skein.
That's when it hit me. With a little corrected computation I just realized that I have bought enough yarn to crochet 2 full afghans and still have a bit left over LOL!!!
I'll just chaulk the excess up to a future project and a lesson learned ha ha.
Best Wishes
