I agree with you. Why does every station think they need a reality show? TV Land is the same way. They have the High School Reunion show (who cares about a bunch of unknowns high school reunion?) Wish they would just stay with the old TV shows we love and know.

I don't know what the deal is either with these channels that just HAVE to produce their own shows. A few months ago I did some searching around on TVLands website and found a forum where everyone was in total agreement on NO reality shows. Do they listen? No way. Plus I did a search on a tv listings place for the Reunion show they last did. They aired the same show 17 times one week, and the next week 21 times. And then we have the subject of 'marathons'......

I too was disappointed when TV Land first aired Reunion and was even more disappointed when I saw it was returning. They sure lowered their standards and I don't see them as a family channel anymore due to airing such reality smut. I deduced it was just smut from seeing just the Previews of the upcoming shows.

Bring Beaver back! I never tire of him, or Andy, or Archie, regardless of how many times I watch the same episodes.

It's all about the $$--it's cheap to make those shows. Bad ratings is about the only thing that will dissuade them from airing.

I watch nothing "new" on TV, except MSNBC and CNN news. The others are so politically slanted I can't stand. I watch all the old comedies on TVLand and I love,love,love, the old movies on TCM. I can't stand any of the network shows, reality shows are the worst. I tried watching Jay Leno at 10, he just wasn't as good. Glad he's headed back to 11:35. And has anybody seen I Love Lucy? I could watch her shows anytime, even though I know all the plots and all the jokes. She and Desi were fantastic!

My DH told me this morning that Howie Mandell was taking over for the guy who used to be on Beach Patrol, on American Idol. I cannot remember his name right now.My Radioligist says the I have what they call Chemo Brain right now. I just thought it was old age. B-)

Boy - I'm glad I'm not alone. With all the
gazillion channels I can get, sometimes there is
absolutely nothing good on. I haven't watched
any network shows in a long time because of all
the reality shows.

We just got "Retro TV" a while ago, and there are
a couple of old shows I watch on there. It is
kind of funny to see the old graphics, etc., in
shows that aren't meant to be funny.

I "hate" channel flippers, and it seems that's all
I do anymore. I can only watch so much Food &
HGtv.

I love some of the shows on Retro TV as well, Molly, I watched Marcus Welby last week and really enjoyed it.

I am so tired of reality shows, my husband was just talking about another that is to start, what a waste. I agree, they make them because they are cheap(er) to do. I guess the million dollar prize is a heck of a lot cheaper than the millions paid for the stars.

You would think there would be an entire site dedicated to the dislike and bashing of so much of the Reality TV Crap, but I couldn't fine one.

Do you think me starting a Yahoo site called Reality TV Sucks would be popular? Might there be a better name? What then? Would you voice your opinions there? Would you encourage others to voice their opinions there?

Possibly the TV producing world would take note if it was a really big hit. Thoughts? Opinions? Slams? Possible ramifications?

I too think that it costs little to produce so much of the Reality TV Crap, and wonder if it wouldn't be a lot cheaper for them to reruns some oldies but goodies.

I'm really kind of surprised that they didn't just choose to remove my post, rather than defend themselves for putting something that is not child appropriate on at 10 PM, and giving plenty of advance notice.

I'm surprised more people don't just drop cable and satellite altogether. I see no reason to get it back. I don't miss it at all. I will say there is an occasional program that sounds interesting but for the most part I can get them on the internet. This weekend I was watching a few Mr. Moto and Charlie Chan movies. Had never seen Mr. Moto (with Peter Lorre) and was very pleasantly surprised.

And they're constantly raising their prices too. If they could let me pick a package of 30-40 channels, well probably 10-20 would be plenty, I'd consider it and I think they'd have a lot happier people. But I understand the business. They get a better deal per subscriber if they force everything onto everyone and have a higher number of subs. Which effectively kills small cable operators and of course there's no competition to speak of in that business.

150 channels of infomercials. A cable operator's dream! And a subscriber's nightmare!

Oh, Dottie, my friend... First, I'm not sure YOU could ever be grumpy! But if so, I'd like to try to make you a little less grumpy. Hopefully Peter Lorre might bring a smile or at least a memory of some pleasant times? I got a kick out of it.

I find very little to watch too. Thank goodness I can TIVO some favorites such as Masterpiece Theater and Antiques Roadshow. I love The Good Wife this season. I usually check to see what is on the various History Channels, old movie channels, HGTV, the networks, and Showtime and HBO. Even at that, I often can find nothing to watch.

I keep finding more and more on PBS that interests me. Tonight they had a great show on Nova about midget subs attacking Pearl Harbor. Once again, things we were told weren't totally accurate. I dozed during it but will try to watch the replay in the morning or when it airs again. Plus I like the Britcoms.

I've heard a lot about the Retro Network. I see a number of broadcast stations are subscribing to it and running on a subchannel. Sounds like something that would interest me. Sort of what TV Land started out as, I'm told.

Does "reality" ... pretty well = baloney?
