crochet flip flops

Have you all seen the crocheted flip flops? I saw a post yesterday on another forum, and they were so cute I stopped after work and spent 3 bucks on a pair of flip flops, then stopped at Michael's for the yarn. I had them done in about 30 minutes! Wore 'em to work today, and I have gotten a TON of compliments!

I have the pattern to try when I have some spare time and am between projects--DD's wedding being the biggest one now. Are they comfortable with all that yarn on them????

Msmeow, I saw the heading for your post this morning, but didn't take the time to look. Of course, those are a bit casual for me to wear to work at the law office. But I finally decided to look at the pattern and I'm really glad I did! Yes, they are cute, and I think I'm going to fix up some of my flip-flops, but the reason I'm glad I looked was for that little tip on how to keep the yarn from tangling when you are using both ends of a skein. Thank you. Whenever I have had to do that I have had to stop every so often and untangle the danged mess. I guess I won't have to do that anymore, thanks to you. Bravo.

Raven I am grateful to you for putting up the link. Thank you. And I'm planning on getting one of the other kinds of sandals shown here. Snopes itself said the cause was never ascertained, so there does not appear to be enough info, and for 98 cents, I stand by my decision. You never know when a 'heads up' link might be the one that saves your life, or saves you from a lot of grief. I think that concept was discussed in the recent fish thread. And I'd never heard about reactions to sandals. I'm as sure as I can be that some people here on KT have had their lives, health, and property saved by heads up posts here.

First, "they" (Tarek and Christina) didn't discover that Tarek had thyroid cancer. It was a nurse who watches the show, who noticed the lump at the base of Tarek's throat. She contacted the producers, gave her credentials, and asked that they tell Tarek to get checked, which he did. Apparently, about six months ago the couple got into a huge argument, and Christina saw Tarek grab a gun, which he put into his back pocket and then left the house. She called the cops to report that her husband was suicidal and had a gun. Several cops and a helicopter were dispatched to find him. Tarek said that he was never suicidal -- that he needed to get away from the situation so he decided to go for a hike in the hills near their house. I know the area, because I used to live in Orange County (from Jan 1963 till December 1987). There are coyotes, mountain lions, and rattlesnakes (to name a few) and other wild animals in the hills, and Tarek said he took the gun with him for protection. It's not a stretch to believe that. (In fact, you'd be crazy to hike in the hills without protection.) They actually separated a couple of months prior to that incident, so they have been separated for 8 or 9 months. May be a bit early for some to start dating, but for others, it's a way to see if you truly love your spouse and want to stay married to him/her.

Ah! I usually use a desktop/laptop b/c it's so much easier to type, edit, etc. Plus, as you've noticed, using a desktop gives you more functionality! Thank you Rachel! Please...now that we've discovered most likely why Fifamom could not edit her post, no more discussion on this thread about what is/is not possible with a particular device. If you want to discuss it more, see this thread I just started: Help me with the new Read Me -- what device do you use? Back to Fifamom's reason for posting....showing us that she's started demolition!

Sheila, you don't crochet around the toe part. So they don't feel any different than normal when you wear them. It's just that the fur yarn flops over the toe part, so it looks like you've crocheted around it.

Yes, Sheila - they feel about the same as undecorated flip flops. They actually seemed to keep my feet warm! (We have obnoxiously cold AC in our office.)

Donna, I loved that tip about the baggies, too! That's one of those "why didn't I think of that" things!

Thanks for the info. I will be making some, but not till after the summer is over. One month to go to the wedding, and our back yard needs lots of work. Will have the day after brunch on the patio for 30, but just want it to look nice when his parents come over. Plan to get to the nursery and just buy lots of flowers. Thinking of gerberia dasies especially to fill in blank spaces.
