Chances are that those emails she is receiving are not actually from Facebook.

Do you receive email from FB advising you of pages that your 'friends' follow? I never do.

That's a good point, Maddielee. I never receive those. The email certainly looks legit, but stranger things have happened. I clicked on one of the page logos and it asked me to log into FB so I could see it. Again, very legit looking. But it could have been looking for my friend's password.

If in doubt, delete it. Scary how legit they can make something look. Like bank notices.

I agree that it's not Facebook... probably another phishing scam.

I can sympathize with you .... I was getting emails from an outfit called moveon.something or other on FB supposedly that I had signed up for.. But never in this life would I ever lower myself that level of idiocy... ever !! UGH.. I wrote them back to them and told them to move on.. away from me with their ugliness.. So, I understand what you are say alisande.. Just delete, delete, delete..

I know they are not good emails. I have notified them in
the past to let them know something is up with their email or facebook. I get them every day now.

I get those, too, Kat. I'm always notifying people that their email accounts have been hacked. I think they're always Yahoo or AOL accounts. They're always obvious--clearly something that didn't come legitimately. But these emails sent to my friend really look good. She's been getting them for some time--only thought to mention them to me on the phone last night.

You need to change your password on your facebook account and on your email account. My facebook page was hacked twice and a similar thing happened. I contacted facebook and that's what they told me to do.

there have very recently been some more changes and also some new types of scams and phishing. Might look for that post and read up. Changes in your FB setings were needed on some of them.

I got a post on my FB yesterday from a site that I have not 'liked' so I should not be getting anything from them, it has happened 2-3X's from different sites~~~I hit the x in the right hand corner to delete it, from there you can report it as SPAM~~

I find FB to be more and more confusing. Some of my Friends posts show up in my newsfeed and others don't. However, if they are on one of my lists, I have to go to the list to see their comments. I can't figure out why some show up in newsfeed and others don't.

Also, I answered some stupid question in a quiz (what shoes should Pioneerwoman wear with this dress?). Later, I looked at my account to see what the public can see, and there is the stupid quiz question and answer. I have my privacy settings so no one other than friends can see anything, so this is very annoying. I had to go back and unanswer the question to get rid of it. I wasted a lot of time tracking this down.

All the fake FB emails go to my Spam filter, so that's not a problem. Jeez, why do I waste my time on stupid FB?

What I was advised in the past was that if an email addressed you as a "member"; then it's a scam. An email from any account that you're involved will address you with the same name you've registered with.
