If you read the other thread than you saw the one that I use and recommend. Sold at restaurant supply stores. You can control the volume and what I like is that it will continue to ring until you turn it off. Most timers I find ring for 30 to 60 seconds and then stop. If you happen to step outside for a minute or two you might not hear the alarm before it stops.

Yes, I did see your comment on the other thread, Ann. And that reminded me to add to my request that any timer suggested NOT make me turn it off. I'm glad you found one that fits your style, however, that feature makes it a deal-breaker for me.

Just a thought but why not buy an alarm clock; set it for the time you need and then music will come on instead of a buzzing or beeping?

wish we had an edit button - I meant to say: a clock radio with an alarm you can set so music plays instead of buzzing etc.

When you aren't using it as a timer, you can just play music in the kitchen while you cook.

That's a creative idea!!, but I already have a source of music and I don't have space in the poor layout my kitchen has for a clock radio.

I want a digital timer for the speed of setting, starting, & stopping...plus the magnet that will let me keep it on my fridge.

I just wish I could find one like my old Lux timer which my brother absconded with. The new ones aren't any good.

The best thing about the Good Cooks one is that they had it at the closest store when I had to send someone out to pick up a timer quick. There's a jumbo numbers one that is a bit better.

My best suggestion is to go to a big housewares store where they have a lot of variety, or Radio Shack, or to a variety of stores where they have a few, and try them ou.

I use the one on my mircowave oven (which is probably the most use my microwave gets). Or, if I'm at the other end of the house, I use the countdown timer on my cell phone which I've set with it's own ring tone.

ALright, just call me when you put something in the oven and when it's done I'll call ya back. How's that?

Yeah, I want that same kind of timer leaveswave. I detest the one I have that keeps on with that shrill sound until I track it down at the other end of the house and turn it off!

I programmed my microwave not to continue beeping when something is in there and it cuts off. I don't need a constant reminder thank you very much. I detest all of these beeping machines that's out there these days. I hear every vehicle that is backing up. I hear the constant beep of the dishwasher if I open it and don't close it immediately. Me, I'd just like a little peace and quiet!

I used to have a teriffic Lux and it broke. I got another one and you are so right plllog, they went down the tube just like all of the rest of the "new and improved" products.

I sometimes use my cell phone's alarm. Were I to buy an actual timer (other than the one on my stove, microwave & cell), I'd get the kind that clipped to me or hung around my neck. I have a tendency to wander in the midst of my projects, and my husband has found me in the garden or next door more than once to tell me a buzzer was going off...
