Wait until you finish this jacket and see how the neck works and the arm holes etc. Then...if you like that, you can use it as a guide. What I would do is lay your finished sweater out on a piece of news print....or a large piece of brown wrapping paper, and decide how much larger youw ant to make it for a size L....and draw that on the paper. What you are doing is making a simple paper pattern of the sweater you want to knit. Then make a swatch using the yarn and the needles you like best and any pattern in the sweater if there is any....figure out your gauge ( how many stitches to the inch....and how many rows)....measure the pattern for the large....multiply by the number of stitches to make an inch and cast on that many stitches. As for the neck...I would look at the pattern for the XL....see how many stitches you should cast on for that.... and see how far off that number is and do the neck like that. I don't know the pattern....don't know if the neck is cast on....added....shaped, turtle neck or what. Linda C

Susan, The way i do reverse aplique is this.I first decide on a pattern i want,a heart,a diamond etc.Then i take a piece of contrasting fabric,pin or baste it to the inside of the ss.Oh i should say to make the piece of fabric oversize as you can trim it up later.Then on the piece of fabric use whatever marking device you choose,chalk washout pen etc,and draw the image you want.Now sew all around the lines you drew.Turn the SS right side out and cut away the ss fabric about 1/4 " INSIDE the sewn lines.If i use a cotton fabric for the applique,i also add a piece of iron on interfacing over that to keep it from fraying when washed. Later on when i get back i'll look for my pictures and post them to you. Hope this makes sense to you,i'm not very good at writing directions. Kathi

Eld, maybe your niece uses Rent the Runway. I hear of people who have to go to formal events who rent a dress to wear. It makes perfect sense since these are often expensive items that you will only wear once or twice. the Stitch Fix quality is varied. Everything in my first box was very nice although one item didn’t fit and another was something I knew I would not wear. I love the cashmere sweater and it’s been very useful. The second box was much more TJ Maxx quality— cheaply made but also overpriced. I may give them one more chance in the spring and give more detail. My last trip to the mall was a nightmare. I dragged myself all over and finally found one pair of black pants. I got in line to pay. There were two people ahead of me. While I was waiting, another woman came up to the counter on the other side rather than getting in line. The salesperson insisted she had been there first. I was so tired and irritated I just shoved the pants at her and said she could keep the damn things — well maybe not quite that rude. So if I can get nice clothes delivered to the door, I am all for it. Now we are in the midst of freezing weather and snow but I have to get those clothes back in the mail within three days. At least they send a postage paid envelope.
